Can anyone recommend a good place for getting copies and/or film
(transparencies) made other than Kinkos in the Williamsburg area?

It's not in Williamsburg, but I've had really good luck with a place near Union Square called East Side Prints- 13th and 5th (or maybe University?) 212-307-0465

They're very fast, very friendly and do much better work than Kinkos.

I use Alkit for most things - park and 18th (walk from the union square sub
station), would imagine they do E6 but don't know what types of 'copy' stuff
you need...

I've used ABC on Park Ave and 39th (or 40th?) They're cheap but somewhat inconsistent..depends on who serves you. The women are awfully curt but the guys are great. One guy made about 7 copies for each of my images until he got the color just right. Also, another guy there named Angel was very helpful.

I go to Village Copier on 13th between University and 5th across from East Side Copy.
They have self serve color copiers upstairs that copy a 11 x 17 for around a dollar I think. So that's fifty cents for an 8 x 10 sheet in color. Downstairs someone will print with glossy card stock and then a photo has extra snap and clarity, but costs 2-3 dollars. Not everyone knows that Kinko's will match the price of any competition.
These lazer printers seem to always print a little darker than the original. They can never match the detail in an inkjet or digital C-print, but the price is right. Good luck...
