1. Detriot could get cleaned up.
2. Knocking down the older houses that no one lives and creating new houses can create jobs and clean nieghbor hoods up.
3. Fix Bulidings up and try to promote new bussiness growth.

I agree that detroit should be cleaned up but that takes a lot of money. More money than we have right now. The city of Detroit can't afford it. The state of Michigan can't afford it and the United States can't afford it.

I think that, in order for Detroit to be restored to its former glory, that there should be a complete makeover. There is not just one thing for you to do. There are many problems in the city of Detroit. We need to change the people, the government, and the look. I agree with the video that not everything in Detroit is bad but there is a lot of bad. If we change these things then we can chenge Detroit.

We need to improve the city by knocking down the old abandoned buildings that nobody uses and make put better, useable buildings in their place. We also need to give detroit a better name then the one we have. Lastly we should try and get more jobs so that we can have the money to get the city back to its former glory.

I believe three ways to help restore the city of Detroit is to knock down buildings that happen to be in a fire, or just banded because a lot of crime can take place in toughs houses or buildings.
Clean up the graffiti that is on houses and buildings and  having more job opportunities, because with more job opportunities people may be willing to pay more in taxes to help the city of Detroit.

tear down the old burned up houses would be a great start to rebuilding detroit. Renovate the old buildings of detroit, and clean up all of the garbage and grafitti.

I believe in order to make Detriot a better place we need to do something with the youth. keeping them busy will keep them off the streets. When the kids have something to do they wont bother to write on walls with paint sell drugs or sleep around bringing kids into the world starting another generation that will not make a diffrence to the world..
Also I believe that churches would help making Detriot a better place. More Laws and rules can help. the police force can take their jobs more seriously and take action when they need to not when they want to. The community also needs to come together and help make Detriot cleaner and more sophisticated. The way you take care of where you live reflects you. They can start buy cleaning up the abandon buildings and putting down grass picking up garbage and so much more. The little things really do make a diffrence even if you just repaint a wall or something. Making more jobs and employing people bringing back more school and educating people. motivating people to go back to school and to get off the streets and make something out of their selves. there is so much to do when people have money they wont feel a need to take advantage of people who have money. people need to stop making a bad impression of the city because its not a bad place.. ITS UP TO THE PEOPLE.

for detroit to restore its glory, we need to get rid of old abandoned buildings and clean up. we need to take bettter care of the buildings and other things that arent completely damaged or ruined, and we need to create more job opportunities so more people can move to detroit and become one big community again like it once was.

You do make a point but.. if the city starts people on minimum wage to start fixing up detriot and the nieghborhood people will have money, they will spend the money and then slowly get detriot back on its feet and if detriot pays people to rebuild homes and apartments people in the suburbs will come in and move in there (More Tax Payers). People are looking for a nice looking place to live...not one in which it has falling apart houses and having "Intresting Art Work" everywhere and nice nieghbor hoods.

To improve Detroit, we need to clean up the graffiti off of old building and houses and to make more job opportunities. Cleaning up and creating more jobs would change peoples opinions about Detroit and think its a better place.

Why would they use their own money to fix up a place that doesn't matter to them? And there are very few jobs in Michigan to begin with. Why don't you use your money to fix it up?

In order to restore the city of Detroit, The old buildings should be renovated into something useful that will bring in more money to the city.
Also the youth should be encouraged to become more involved in the cities rather than the streets.
Lastly the streets should be cleaned from all the garbage that is laying out there .

I think it does matter to them.....by them i mean detriot besides you have to spend money to make money. When they spend the money on people that are working then the people will spend the extra moneythey have and the money will go back into the system. Also the more people that have jobs the less people that will be on welfare so there fore there is more money.

In my personal opinion, its pretty obvious that Detroit needs to be cleaned up and houses needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Detroit was once a great place to be and now the population of detroit is sad. Our city needs to be that place once agin!

That video was quite enervating in the sense that it brought a spirit of pride in that i am a native Detroiter. It posed some very positive and negative views of the city of Detroit. But on a grander scale I feel as if the city were to in fact experience some sort of revival, it would require tremendous leadership, brotherhood, and sense of community to do so. I also favored the idea that Detroit does in fact need the diversity of ideas, culture, and ways of life embodied by other great cities world wide. I believe the city in a sense never fully loss its grandeur; but has absolutely the potential to gain great success and affluence.

I believe the idea of allowing new people with new ideas can help diversify ourculture, and possibly advance us in a beneficial sense. Detroit need more people, with different, new, helpful intentions and ideas to aid in regaining former glory as one of America's greatest cities.

There are many things that we could do to restore Detroit to its former glory.

Like many have said, I think the 1st step is to help clean up the communities in Detroit. However,  like Ashlyn commented that does require money that we do not have available at this time. But money shouldn't be an issue. Residents of Detroit should take it upon themselves to help clean their communities. After all they are the ones living in them. If they wait around for a miraculous grant or something to help bail them out, Detroit would never be like it once was. Residents need to take action not for anyone but for themselves.

A second solution to this problem would be fixing the look and views others have on Detroit. We need to engage everyone, adults and children. They can do this by working together as a community to make programs that would benefit all. For example, they can make programs that get kids out of the streets after school or programs that would help families in times of need. While doing things like this, people should then reach out to the social media and advertise the fact that Detroit isn't at all what people make it out to be because it isn't !

A third solution would be for the residents not to just get up and leave. Instead of people just moving away from Detroit because they found better homes or communities more well off than they already  have or more jobs available they need to take it upon themselves to appreciate what they have and make it better. Just because something is new doesn't at all make it better. People that move away from Detroit should take those reasons why they are moving away and find solutions to their problems.

Kourtney,

People do not want to spend their hard earned money on a place where they don't feel safe. It is very difficult for people with little money to fix up so many abandoned buildings and homes. Many people in Detroit have families that they need to take care of with their money. So this entire idea about people using their money to fix up Detroit is out of the question. The city barely has a functioning government how can they trust their government to do the right things with the money they work for.

Detroit is one of the most famous popular cities in the U.S. The city itself has had many influencial events and people that made our city the place to be. Now the crime rates have risen and everyone  i hear speak on detroit that arent natives feels as if its a very dangerous place that they wouldnt want to visit alone. There are many tourist attractions that make our city a popular place but, over time the city have definitly gained some down falls. We should be investing our money into detroit as a community to make it a better place but clearly no one is doing so.
