Please use Taiwan instead of Chinese Taipei for Lu's
profile

Dear Wimbledon,

On your website (http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/players/overview/
atpl575.html), you use the term "Chinese Taipei" in Yen-Hsun Lu's
country, birth place, and residence. However Lu is not from Chinese
Taipei. In fact, there is no such place called Chinese Taipei. He is
from Taiwan, the capital of which is Taipei. Lu called his people
"Taiwanese". I believe you should respect Lu’s self identity and use
the term Taiwan instead of Chinese Taipei and not even Chinese Taipei
(Taiwan).

Because by using the term Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), your website has
confused a lot of people including sports reporters. Here is one of
the examples:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/jon_wertheim/06/28/roddick.exits/index.html#ixzz0sH9yGope

As the official website of Wimbledon, you should strive to provide
clear and correct information not to confuse people. Therefore,
please use Taiwan instead of Chinese Taipei on your website. Thank
you very much for your concern and help.

Many thanks for your email.

Yen-Hsun Lu's country is registered with the ATP as Chinese Taipei,
and that is the country name for any tennis event which he competes
in. It is also in-line with the Olympic country naming policy.
