I built a waterslide model that has photo textures for all of it
except the waterslide itself. Due to the fine detail of the waterslide
(I used the follow me tool which created a mesh that is hundreds of
angles) it is impossible for me to fill the model with photo textures.
So I used the color of the slide and it is not being accepted due to
incomplete texturing. Can't they see that it would be impossible to
photo texture this and even if I could it wouldn't look right. I think
they are being too strict. Is there anything I can do about it?

Here is the link to it. anyone have any ideas? I'm about ready to just
give up.

maybe it will be accepted if you apply a texture you create from one
of your photos - as shown in that tutorial at 05:47?

Hello Danners Banners

Cool looking water slide. Looks like a riot.

There are a couple things you might consider trying.

Using the Follow Me Tool as you have, you might consider trying to
Follow Me one curve at a time (or a section) and then put the
different sections together to form the whole slide. That would help
ensure the "trough" is upright (or oriented) exactly as needed ("IF"
any different from what you have ended up with).

Since you have photos to texture with, you can either create a
repeatable/tileable texture from them to texture the slide OR using an
overhead view (even the Google Earth Terrain Image - Color), you could
"Project" the image onto your slide.
That is often the best (and sometimes ONLY) way to texture curved
surfaces.

i have found that instead of using a solid colour texture, try and use
a portion of one of your phototexture, spread the texture out across
the area that is concerned, and you will hopefully find a colour
match, this is my way around this problem, hope this helps you a bit.

There is a script called FollowMe and Keep, which will extrude a face
like Follow Me but will not twist the extrusion when using a helix as
a path. A link to that script is in the helical fabrication section
http://sites.google.com/site/sketchupsage/tips-tricks#helical.
