Hi Everyone,

I know how some of you may feel. You upload your awesome looking geo-
located model to the 3D Warehouse. However, you have no idea if or
when it will be included in the "Best of 3D Warehouse" layer in Google
Earth. My friends, you can now rest your worries to ease. 20 minutes
ago we launched a new feature in the 3D Warehouse that should resolve
these concerns.

If you uploaded a geo-located model, you can now see where the model
is at in the "Best of 3D Warehouse" review process. You can see the
status by logging in to the 3D Warehouse and navigate to your model's
details page. Please be aware that only the model owner can see the
review status.

If your model is approved, that's awesome! If your model isn't
accepted, we'll provide clear details and helpful hints on why it
didn't make the cut this time. Feel free to incorporate our feedback
and re-upload the model for consideration again.

Enjoy!

Hi,
I've just checked two of my models which were on the 'Best of' layer,
and now only one of them is. One has been removed because apparently
it's misaligned - but it isn't.

The other one IS misaligned, and is still showing in the 'Best of'
layer, even though I uploaded a corrected version about 6 months ago.

I'm probably going to upload new versions of both of them anyway
because they could both use some tweaking, but the last time I
modified them it didn't seem to make any difference.

Any suggestions?

Stef

Hi Stef,

Interesting. That does seem a bit backwards :-). Feel free to send me
links to both models, and I can look into it further.

Uploading revisions to both models will send them through the review
process again, which sounds like a great idea. Take a look at the
Feedback page at http://www.google.com/intl/en/sketchup/3dwh/acceptance_criteria.html
to give your revised models the best chance of being added to Google
Earth.

Many thanks.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
The two models in question are linked below:

The one that is correct, but is no longer included is:

While the one that is included in GE, but has the old version of the
file is:

This is really good news - great feature.

For anyone wondering what the time line is: my oldest model is in the
review queue and its nearly 6 months old, so its a big queue!

Happy modelling!

Hi Everyone,

If you have a model that has been under review for more than a month
(Al, you definitely fall into this category ;-), I have a little trick
that may interest you:

Re-upload your model.

This will take your model out of the backlog and put it in the new
review process, which goes much faster.

Enjoy!

Hi,
in italian-version pages of 3D Warehouse this status isn't yet
available? I tried to enter in details pages of some models made by
me, but I have not seen any option that allows to check the status..

Hi saikindi,

Ah yes. Thanks for bringing up this issue.

I failed to mention that this feature is only available in the English
version of the 3D Warehouse for now. However, we're working to release
in additional languages as soon as possible.

Thanks again.

SketchUp Guide Tommy, 3 or 4 of my oldest models, uploaded around a
year or so ago, have recently been updated. Unlike my newer models,
when I open their .skp files and re-upload, all the information I
filled in a year ago still exists, and deleting the model to re upload
is not necessary, and thus they retained all their ratings (which is
great). But this is not the problem (although this phenomenon is
interesting), the problem is that it simply states that these very old
models are still in the status 'Awaiting Review'. Does this mean they
have already been reviewed, and this is the default message when they
have been uploaded before this status indicator existed? Also, what
about this 'new review process' you mentioned? How much quicker is it
actually? Sounds good : ).

Tommy i had this model reviewed:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d2980dffb411ad3540fa09fde42a263
and it says its misalignated, but is correctly placed.. the imaginary
is alittle blury, it would be great if you can reconsider it again...

other thing,

in Buenos Aires there are three models of the same building in the
layer the models are:

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=42cd376b4cfa8d3faf58199bf10c6ad3
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=78473da1e4305fd1766eb639aa3cf12b
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=c9d704a546d9ec91d63d1d04f9ee98b

something curious of the first one is that is reviewed and accepted in
the layer.. it appears in the layer, but it hasn't the badge in the
description.
the first model is correctly located the other are misalignated, plz
fix this.. this is a landmark building of Buenos Aires.

Thanks.

Sorry double post... but i think that maybe three lists of models:
"pending aproval" models
"accepted" models
"not accepted" models

will be great, so you can check this lists to know if a model needs to
be readjusted or is submited or not to the layer...
this is something similar to the drawings in Skyscraperpage.com (btw,
thats a cool web site of skyscrapers).

I have to say that is really hard to know wich models needs
adjustmens... i have 200 models in my collections maybe 50 waiting
approval and its frustating .. :(

Hi Tomy,
I have one model I created 6 months ago (http://sketchup.google.com/
3dwarehouse/details?mid=a4e502eb2adf23e9991e12944cb3ab1) and it was
accepted to the best of the 3d warehouse layer months ago (you can see
the blue round icon in the model page). suddenly, in the new version
of Google Earth the building isn't shown anymore and I get an
"Awaiting review" message in the model page, even though It still has
the best of 3d warehouse logo.
what's going on?

Thanks
Adar

Hello Tommy,
Months ago you have change the terrain resolution where this model is
located. I have made the corrections to fit it OK and uploaded it with
the same "id number". But the old one is in place and misaligned. I
put it in the best of 3D warehouse nominees, although it is in the
best of 3D Warehouse layer.

In this case what can I do?

Hi Everyone,

This is an exciting discussion. Sorry for a delay in my response. I
was a bit under-the-weather this last week :-(.

Hi SittingDuck,

I'll reply to your questions inline:

"Does this mean they have already been reviewed, and this is the
default message when they have been uploaded before this status
indicator existed?" - The short answer: Yes.

"Also, what about this 'new review process' you mentioned? How much
quicker is it actually? Sounds good : )." - In all honestly, I'm not
sure yet. The change is too new to assess the improvement in review
time. Once we have a little more data regarding the new review
lifecycle, I'll try to share this information with the Group (if it's
feasible to share the information publicly ;-).

Hi mordorsfear(3Done),

The updated version of the first model you provided was accepted
today. Congrats :-).

I filed a bug on the duplicate models for "Torre Bouchard." This issue
should be resolved soon.

Many thanks for your honest feedback about viewing which models need
adjustment. I think that sorting models by "pending," "accepted," and
"not accepted" is a great idea. We'll definitely take your idea into
consideration.

Hi adarop,

I'm not sure why the model is no longer a part of "3D Buildings" layer
in Google Earth. The model appears to have been accepted today and
should be seen soon in Google Earth. Keep an eye on this model and let
me know if nothing changes in the next few days.

Hi José Manuel,

I'll ensure that the latest revision is taken into consideration.

Phew :-). Hopefully my comments help. Thanks again to everyone for
bringing these issues to my attention.

Enjoy!

Thank you for this succinct reply Tommy, but I have one thing to add,
although this is probably the incorrect place to do so. I received my
first reviews today which were all negative: ''Status - Not accepted
at
this time'' on the ground that the buildings did not exist. I can
assure you they are all there! Now, I would love to go through the
recommended process of resubmitting the models with a link to existing
photos, but this process seems extremely tedious. One of the models
is even a sort
of national landmark!! Any chance there can be some form of
interference?
Here are the models in question.
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=661c19f6bc32032a8baf51fa8bb896fb
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=fe1f9b2a9409544eeddba30a81562968
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=be1fb421b2daeb4cab17bdfd533f28

There are several other incorrect reviews. Has this process been
automated perhaps?

Thank You,
Sitting Duck

- Model seems real to me
- Model is partly (!) offset by several meters to areal image in GE4.3
- Personally I'd split the model up in 2 or three groups of buildings,
since the buildings are at two distinct spots along the street.

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=fe1f9b2a9409544eed...
- This model is real and can well be seen in ground imagery.

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=be1fb421b2daeb4cab...
- This model is either very much mislocated or the tree foilage covers
it completely or it is fictious. At least I cannot see it on the areal
image at all.

Hi SittingDuck,

I completely agree with matthiasbasler. The first model seems fine,
just a bit misaligned. Try splitting the model into different files as
matthiasbasler suggested and re-upload. If the models aren't accepted
again, let me know.

For the second model, I worked a little magic and it should appear in
the 3D Buildings layer of Google Earth soon :-).

Regarding the third model, I agree that it's difficult to determine if
the building exists under all those trees. Please go through the
appropriate process for validating misaligned buildings. I appreciate
your feedback, however, regarding the tediousness of this process.
We'll continue to work to improve this workflow.

Hi Everyone,

In the interest of preserving this thread as an announcement of the
model status feature, I'm going to close this discussion for now. If
you encounter any additional issues or if you have additional
questions about this feature, feel free to start a new discussion.

Enjoy!
