I recently just started to deal with Google Earth and I am veryinterested in a layer of 3D trees. How can I add trees in this layer? And is it possible to add their own trees in the layer3d trees.I have a desire to make a model of the central park of the city and it will be difficult bezderevev do, and I'm afraid that if I add the trees just like 3D objects you do not take them toGoogle

Just create the trees like you would do with a model and upload

Hi Dmitry,

You're noticing that there are 3 different 3D layers: Photorealistic, Gray and Trees

At this point, the Trees layer is populated by Google and it is not possible to submit your own tree models to it. However, as Aubrey suggested, you are able to submit 3D models of trees to the Photorealistic layer via the 3D Warehouse using the same process you do for buildings. As long as your trees meet our acceptance criteria and are submitted separate from any 3D buildings, they should be accepted.

See this article for some clarification on the acceptance criteria:

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
Thanks very much for this explanation of the current method of
submitting trees to GE.
Is there a collection, or any source, of acceptable (low poly, best of
class) trees for us to use?

I have modeled a few trees:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=94b254daf77546e46147c5882895b2cb
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d896233554f580ea6147c5882895b2cb

and will probably do more,
but I'm also interested in using others, by other modelers, that are
as small (low poly) and as realistic looking as possible,
for some park areas that I'd like to populate with numerous trees.

Thanks for your time.

Hello Kent aka ixboat

There are several collections of trees.
One of the best sources for all things green in the 3DWH are from Ghaleb Fawzi.
He has a collection called "The Green Team".

I would gladly paste a link but this forum seems to be all messed up. Every time I right click in this reply window, everything disappears.
While I know that isn't the best way to include a link, I like to Paste things all the time.
..... Side Note:  Google ... Please Fix This Issue !!    And please fix the issue where each reply insists on including all the previous posts (ie. includes the Original Quote even though we don't select the Original Quote link above).
So instead of being able to select and delete all that included quoted text (because everything disappears requiring me to re-start my post again and again), we have to hold the Delete button for 10 minutes to erase everything. It is Extremely Annoying.

Here I have deleted maybe half of what was quoted .. over and over again ... Google Fix This.   It's Crazy and Annoying

Kent - Google doesn't own collections specific for your questions. Your best bet is your fellow 3D community. :)

SnowTiger - The Google Groups team is aware of the bug you're noticing and are actively working on a fix.

I have been searching for some "Smart" tree to use as well.

There are many great looking trees in the 3dWH but they do not appear to be optimized for GE like the ones populateed by Google.  These trees have specific behavior like disappearing when viewed above a certain angle, etc.

Why isn't it possible to give modelers access to these trees or at least point us in a direction to create them.  (I am not talking about face-me trees or 2.5 d trees)

?

best,

Patrick

Thanks Alex
The most frustrating part of it all, is not being able to right click on misspelled words to correct them.

i switched back to the old groups version
after trying the "no backspace for navigate in chrome" extension
it's tough to communicate that way, i now what you mean

Thanks all, I have very high regard for +Ghaleb Fawzi's forest in 3D
warehouse,
and I'll gladly steal some of them to use for my little forest in
Florida (first)

Regards to all you 3D Raconteurs, be well !
