How come crappy models like these get accepted when other more detailed
models get rejected?

Helen

PS If the .kmz files don't get through do a search for Buckland Road, Poole,
UK and you'll see them.

Hi Amir,

Your model needs phototextures, not SketchUp textures. Check out the
tutorials on phototexturing here: http://sketchup.google.com/training/videos/gsuge.html

Hi Helen,

Since the model judging process involves humans, mistakes do get
made. We've been working on making the judgments more consistent, but
if you find models that don't meet our criteria, point them out here
and we'll take a look.

This line from the criteria page needs changed then:

"Texture the entire model, including the roof. For faces that can't be
photographed, such as the roof, use the imagery in Google Earth. If
Google Earth's imagery is too blurry, or, outdated (the building was
developed after the imagery was taken) then it's acceptable to use
SketchUp materials provided the color and scale are as accurate as
possible. "

It reads like if there arent any pictures provided from Google that
can be used that you can use the materials in SketchUp for the model.

I got stuck with the whole "inaccurate texture" rejection for my model
as well:

Oh well I guess I will wait for a sunny day and all the snow to go
away to get a super accurate photo image of the railings I can get
near and upload them on my wee small 2 ft wide legs. Then figure out
some way to match the photo's color and hope I dont get nailed again
for the upper bits.
