Hi Everyone,

32 minutes ago we launched a new feature in the 3D Warehouse. You can
now choose who can access your Collections. If you want everyone to
see your Collection, you can still do that. If you want to allow
multiple people to edit a Collection, you can do that. If you want
specific people to simply view your Collection, you can do that too.
If you want someone to contact intelligent alien lifeforms with your
Collection...you can't do that yet :-).

For more information about this feature, feel free to visit the
following Help Center article:

http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=92003

Enjoy!

Excelent feature... but i think a collection still needs a forum
between collaborators and outside people.

Hi mordorsfear (3Done),

So I can better understand your feature request, are you interested in
a chat or Google Groups-like functionality between collaborators and
viewers of a collection?

Many thanks.

i think a Googlegroup discussion board could be great. I think via-
email communication is not enough.
If you add discussion to the warehouse, the community will be more
active ;)

Ah. I see. So you're interested in creating a better sense of
community in the 3D Warehouse with a discussion mechanism. I think
that's an awesome idea :-).

Do you (or anyone else) have any additional suggestions that might
improve community? We're always looking for ways to improve community
in the 3D Warehouse.

Many thanks.

in this group you can make a Sticky Post with a FAQ guide to avoid a
lot of people asking why their model isn't in the 3dwarehouse layer on
Google Earth...

another... as collection sharing is available there could be
permissions to help growing the "best of 3dwarehouse layer"...
featured modelers could nominate models for the layer.. then Google
can review them. This could save a lot of time, make your work
lighter, and the acceptation method a lot faster. This idea is so much
better than review model per model.
I know a lot of people want to put their models to the layer, but if
the featured modelers (they are supposed to have better acknowledgment
about the acceptation process) filter the models and then Google's
Team approve or disapprove them would make this better... (just an
idea)

I made the following post sticky, which talks about models in the
"Best of 3D Warehouse" layer:

http://groups.google.com/group/3dwh/browse_thread/thread/2b4af601143e6d76

I think that empowering featured modelers to recommend "Best of 3D
Warehouse" models is an awesome idea. I went ahead and created the
collection and you're the first collaborator :-). Other featured
modelers are welcome to reply to this thread and ask for permission to
edit the collection.

Enjoy!

The collection is great, but is private... i think that a model in
that collection should be marked as "nominee" or something like that,
to encourage modelers to make more models ;)

As I can see the Best of 3Dwarehouse layer isn't just a normal
Collection... maybe theres a bug that can be fixed ;)

Hi mordorsfear,

I made the collection publicly viewable so people can at least see
which models have been nominated. A nominee type badge is a cool idea.
I'll see what I can do.

Additional thanks for recommending Liberti 3designs.

Hi Liberti 3designs,

I confirmed that you're a featured modeler and I added you as a
collaborator to the collection. Welcome :-). You should have received
an email with an invitation to the collection.

I'm currently working on integrating this collection into our building-

to the collection, here you can ask him for the access. ;)

permissions to add models to the collection.

Hi Everyone,

I gave all collaborators the ability to invite other collaborators as

The model looks pretty good. I added it to the Nominee collection.

Just so everyone is clear, this isn't the only method for adding

streamlineing the existing process as opposed to replacing the current
process.

Hi SketchUp Guide Tommy,

A forum for discussion arranged by model subject interest would be
great. Vehicles, machines, residendential, commercial/industrial
buildings, organic subjects, art and sculpture, puzzles, logos, class
assignments--these are possibilities. It'd be helpful to be able to
locate people with similar interests and SU ability to talk about
modeling issues specific to subject matter.

Hi all,
I have a few suggestions for the nominee collection:

First there is a nice and well modelled church in Spalt, Germany by
Markus Kummerer:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=79e30aaf7e6eca2b55cbe4a3fb8a78e4

In Nürnberg there is a stadium, Hartmuth even cared to create a
simplyfied version for GE:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=4411978a99aa58388fa9c27f496b56a1

Then there are two models of mine which I'd also like to see in GE
since they are the two best known buildings in the town of Weißenburg.

http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=5c86edcfa6ee9cfd5aebd588c17a4050

Also there's this landmark, the famous cathedral of Naumburg (Saale).
I put much effort in keeping the model reasonably simple, even though
it is a rather large building complex.

Hi TooToo,

I think that's a great idea to have discussions based on model types.
I'm not sure if we can add additional discussions to this Group,
unfortunately. You could, however, create Collections for each of
these subjects. When you create a Collection you have the option to
link the Collection to a Discussion Group. You can start a new group
by clicking on the link "I don't currently own a group for this topic,
but I'd like to create one" on the Collection creation page.

Enjoy!

3D Buildings Review

Status - Not accepted at this time

Sorry, your model was not accepted for the '3D Buildings' layer this
time. However, feel free to click on the links below for suggestions
on improving your model so that it may be reconsidered for the '3D
Buildings' layer. Once you have implemented our suggestions into your
model, simply upload the new version of the model to replace this one.
Remember to select 'Google Earth Ready' on the upload page to have
your model reviewed for the '3D Buildings' layer.

This feedback is provided solely to you as the owner of this model.
Status is shared with the community only after a model has been
accepted into the '3D Buildings' layer of Google Earth.

Floating
Is something wrong with this message?, because this building is in the
best of 3Dlayer, and it is not floating, I built the terrain as it is
actually. It seams one of you make a message and others put the model
in the best of layer, is there a lack of communication?

Hi José,

I'm sorry to hear about your frustration. I can totally understand.

It appears as though the model was approved initially which is why
it's in Google Earth. The model was reviewed again and it appeared to
be floating. At this time, one of our computers shows the model
floating, while others do not. We're going to investigate just a
little bit more, but as soon as we're done, I'm going to approve the
model :-). Take a look at the model in the 3D Warehouse in a day or
two.

Enjoy!

hello Tommy,
As you know, I am Spanish, for this reason it is quite difficult for
me explaining the issues.

I think you don't understand me, because one thing is the model in
France, and other is the Catedral de San Salvador de Oviedo, this last
one had disappeared from 3D Warehouse only, and the 16 ratings as
well. Now it has one new rating, I am interested in knowing, if it is
possible, what happened with the rates, an why it was deleted from 3D
Warehouse.

The model that the computer find floating, I had made an extra
terrain, that in my opinion matches perfectly in Google Earth, and
takes to me a lot of extra work, tell this to your computer, to take
this into account, next time look for a floating model.

Hi Jose,

It looks like you deleted the Catedral de San Salvador de Oviedo on June
9, then re-uploaded it on June 16. Unfortunately, although you can
recover deleted models by re-uploading them, you can't recover all the
deleted ratings.

It sounds like Tommy is helping already with the model-approval issue.
I just wanted to explain what happened with the deleted ratings.
