I am new to these forums and to the world of 3D design and I would like to design a shield which looks like a target (3 rings) but convex (or is it concave) in shape. I have no clue how to go about this. Doing a single shaped ring isn't a problem, but how do I combine 3 different ones following the same radius but different in size so they fit "inside" each other?

Any pointers gladly received.

Hi Chris,

There are multiple ways to achieve what you are trying to build. 3DTin has a library of geometry templates that you can modify and add to your model, move them around to build the shape you want. Here's a tutorial on how to do it.

If you don't find a suitable shape in this library, then you can make your own too. You will have to use the geometry builder for that. Check out this post

Another family of shapes can be built by means of 2D drawings and extruding/revolving them. Check out this post for more info on that

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much for this. I'll certainly have a look at the links and, hopefully, be able to accomplish what I'm after.  Thanks again.
