Convert PDF to 3D

I am new to 3D printing and have a friend who wants me to design something from a PDF that she sent me.  Is there a way to convert the image on the PDF into a 3 dimensional design?  It is just a a logo for a venue with their name.  Pretty simple but would be much easier to convert instead of recreate.

Hi Charles, unfortunately converting 2D into 3D is not so automatically available. Only in recent years there have been some research projects that manage to do this successfully. See this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2D_to_3D_conversion 

I don't know any particular software that can just take a PDF and convert it to 3D. Certainly 3DTin doesn't support that.
