Hello every one,
This is my first post on this forum.

I have been trying to find a decent way to display interactive 3d
models over the internet.

I use flash CS4 now but the interactivity with the model (renderings)
are very limited.
I am looking into vrml programs like turn tool and the ones listed on
this site:
http://cic.nist.gov/vrml/vbdetect.html

I use AutoCad and 3dmax design 2010 to build my construction models.
I have played around with exporting vrml to a HTML page but the
options when exporting are very limited and even after adding some
parameters in the script after the model has been exported still canot
give me the quality i need.

The biggest problem is probably the dreaded polygon count of the
models.
I need a way for the user (client) to explore and interact with the
model in grave detail like the detail in the examples tab / project
images on my site.

PS:
If you visit my web site be aware that i started using swfobject to
embed my swf files into the HTML page to showcase my 3d max models and
liked it so much i started using swfaddress as well for deep linking,
however i haven't got swfaddress to work with IE, it works fine with
the Firefox, safari, opera browsers and thats a whole other problem.

Thanks for any input you may have!

I think your site looks great. shame about IE though.
I would warn against using embedded 3d plugins. It may scare off
people when then need to download something they never heard of to
view you site. Plus they don't work well. I mean they run ok, they
just tend to be awkward and look terrible.

What are you trying to do that what you have is inadequate? I would
think flash would be your best bet. If you want to show the model in
other states I would suggest adding more layers of renderings that you
can turn on and off.

I don't understand the point of deep linking on a simple website. If
you break up your flash project into just the models in different
swfs and embed them in webpages you wont need it.

Thanks for your input!

The swfaddress is going to go soon its a pain in the you know what.
jest something i thought would be nice the ability to use the back and
forward button on your browser. I am wondering how i can add layers in
flash to turn off and on? I think its jest better to do another swf
but i am not sure. I found this cool flash program i was thinking of
using.

it will work great with max renderings.
