Hello group, I'm a college student studying Software Programming, and
learning 3D programming on my own. I'm interested in using Python to
do scripting and plug-in development for 3D modeling/animation/
compositing software. I would really like to see some discussion/
examples about using python in Max. I see Blur Studio
http://code.google.com/p/blur-dev/ seems to have made it work. Does
anybody have experience or opinions about Blur Tools?

What I think would be an awesome topic is the technique of structuring
scripts in a way that will make them more reusable for future
applications.

I've written an article about using the Blur at http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/chris/py3dsmax_python_scripting_for_3ds_max_from_blur_studios

One option is to use IronPython and the .NET API. The problem however is that currently only a small amount of the SDK is exposed to .NET. One option available to you is to use EPHERE to get a better exposure of the C++ SDK to .NET ( http://www.ephere.com/autodesk/max/ ).

Thanks! That EPHERE tool looks great for C# plug-ins. Its remoting
ability is exciting. on the other hand, access to the .NET framework
from python ( IronPython ) is tantalizing, but I would hate to get cut-
off from many of the standard Python modules.
