Hi all,

I've given Yu access to the Google Analytics data for the blog. If you have a gmail account too (mandatory for analytics) I can add you to the list as well so let me know if you want this.

Yu, do you have any experience with setting up campaigns on Analytics? I guess you need administrator access for that right? Let me know if you would like to experiment with this.

The pageviews for 'Gorilla in the Room' just keep going up, it's actually close to being the best read article on the blog since I started it. I've been trying to figure out what's causing that for a fairly long time and it turns out that stumbleupon is a major factor; Stumbleupon isn't listed among the referrers, it's under the search engines and by now it has three times as many referrals as Google to the site (and climbing!). I stumbled the article, mistakenly filed it under 'Humor' (I thought it was a somewhat funny article, what can I tell you :) and the pageviews just blew up. I don't see how I could consolidate writing about technology with 'humor' but it's certainly a good thing to remember I think :)

I also annotated January 10th in Analytics (I had already annotated Jan 8th) because I noticed the 'Time on Site' stat shoots up there. Both days I published some rather heavy articles on Identity Management. It draws an entirely different crowd; a 'good' crowd to me that stays on the site and will start digging around for more articles on the subject. It would be nice to get insight on visitors' behavior on such days. For other writers it may be more desirable to write short and witty articles you want to show to as many people as possible. So I think we need to try and find a balance between a few loyal visitors and large numbers of grashoppers.
