Hi,
I'm experimenting right now with some advertising on the blog. I installed a WP plugin 'Advertising Manager'. I personally only have experience with Google AdSense. Those familiar with adsense:
- I've created a channel 'wordpress_fred' and created a 180x150 ad in that channel on the AdSense management page.
- On the wordpress admin page I created a new ad 'fredsquare' and cut & pasted the AdSense code for the 180x50 ad in there. The Advertising Manager recognizes this immediately as an AdSense ad and fills in some defaults for it.
- I editted the post
http://wordpress.3dn.nl/2010/01/31/3dn-win-a-poken/ and inserted a tag [ad#fredsquare] in it. Viewing the page currently shows whitespace where the ad needs to be. I believe this may be because the page is not indexed by AdSense yet (it's been a while)
- It is possible to create more ads in the Advertising Manager with the same name (ie. 'fredsquare'). The Advertising Manager will then rotate the ads.
This way everybody could add their own personal ads and use them inside their articles, thus getting your own income from your articles. Let me know if you have any questions.
