Greetings,

This mail isn't directly about 3Di Viewer Rei, but it is linked with the larger vision of which Rei is a part, so I thought I'd share it here.

3Di will hold an upcoming beta test of a new product, "3Di Cloud for Unity", that simplifies the creation of multi-user 3D web applications. Traditionally, creating these sorts of applications requires considerable investments of time and/or money, in addition to requiring a certain level of technical expertise. While OpenSim and custom viewer development are an extremely powerful combination, there's no denying that lots of specialized knowledge is needed - both on the part of the region owner and the region visitor - to successfully get one's own region up and running.

In contrast, 3Di Cloud for Unity aims to lower the barrier to entry and to enable non-programmers to much more easily add real-time 3D social interaction to their blogs or web sites, through simple drag-and-drop operations in the increasingly popular Unity 3D editor. By encapsulating most of the difficulties of creating multi-user 3D services, 3Di hopes that its new product can pave the way for the next wave of growth of the 3D Internet.

To introduce its new solution, 3Di will conduct a public beta test and have prepared an online form to sign up: http://3di.biz/en/3dicloud/ . Furthermore, 3Di will offer, to selected participants, instructions about obtaining a free login account for the later planned release of the service "3Di Cloud for Unity, free version". Free login accounts can only be issued to a limited number of applicants, but participants in the beta test program will be given priority.

Time and date of the beta test are as follows:

Tokyo time (JST): July 15, 2012 (Sunday), 1:00PM
Los Angeles time (PDT): July 14, 2012 (Saturday), 9:00PM

We hope to see you at the beta test!
