My computer is really old (2 years). I'm running a p133 with 32mb RAM and a
diamond stealth graphics card with 2mb of DRAM. Is it worth spending a lot
of money on a great 3D card or should I just buy a cheap one? i.e does my
poor system performance have any bearing on the performance of a 3D card?
If it makes any difference, I like to play flight sims.

Buy a cheap one, the expensive one won't do much more for you. Voodoo1 is your
best option. The performance of your processor really does change how well your
3D will perform.

If you are planning on upgrading to a P2 or equivalent, any time soon, go
for a higher end card. But if you have to stick with that system for some
time yet, I would see what you could get in the way of a voodoo1 card,
...cheap. :) If you can get a voodoo2 or tnt cheap, then go for it, but i
doubt you can.
And yes your system speed (cpu, ram, etc) does have a bearing on the speed
you are going to get from your card. I'm kinda relentful to recommend a tnt
or so, seeing as they are really cpu dependant, and i don't know the
requirments on one. I do know that a voodoo1 chipset is a great addon for
any regular pentium system.

Good Sir, It is my belief you should can that old POS and just buy an new
Intel Celeron 333 processor... ( You can find the Celeron for under 200 ) .
Then buy a Diamond Monster Voodoo 2 and sit back and enjoy the gaming.
