I am having problems running Rogue Squadron 3d and my Voodoo3 3000
Video card. I am using DirectX 6.1...and I MUST use 6.1 as 2 of my
new games require it. Has anyone got Rogue Squadron working with VD3
and DirectX 6.1? I am getting "double vision" on the tex (making it
unreadable) and the explosions are square and blocky.

Thanks for the help!

I am having the same problem with my VD3. With my old Banshee card, the
problem occurred with the "new" drivers. Switching back to the "old"
drivers solved the problem so I suspect the problem has something to do with
the Voodoo 3 drivers. Hope this helps

Can you also let me know if you get any response to this. I have a V3 2000
AGP and have the same problems.

Thanks

It's an incompatability between DirectX 6.1 and Certain games.

The fix is to either force Glide by disabling D3D, or, removing 6.1 and
reverting back to 6.0.

answers I got when I asked about the problem

From 3Dfx:

If a game is correctly written it should query Windows to determine the
Direct3D hardware support, i.e. run Dxdiag.exe and what does it show for
Direct3D support? Many games will only recognize 3D accelerators for
which
the game has optimization for and as such will not list the Voodoo3,
these
games will have to have updates supplied by the game publisher.

The issue with Lucas Arts Rouge Squadron 3D is a game issue. The
corrupted
text is caused by the application selecting 16bit Alpha\Luminance
texture
format which the application is not correctly using. The developer has
been
contacted and the y will have to supply the patch to their software.

From LucasArts:

The new Voodoo 3 display card is not officially supported for running
Star
Wars Rogue Squadron 3D due to the fact that this game was released prior
to
the release of this new graphics card. We have not yet begun backwards
compatibility testing of our games with the new Voodoo 3 card, so it is
hard
to predict how the card will perform with the game.
