I tried to play Gl Quake but I get an error saying I'm missing a file
called glide2x.dll then when I tried to get the file I didn't have a
3dfx driver so I couldn't get it. Somebody told me that you don't need
a 3dfx card to play GL Quake, waz he lying?

He wasn't lying. The only problem is that you have to have a fully compliant
OpenGL driver to do the software rendering for you. Depending on your hardware
(Video Card) your results will vary from about 8 spf to maybe (if you're lucky)
about 10-12fps.

I would definately recommend picking up a 3d accelerator card. A Monster 3D
can be had for around $150, and by now, maybe less. Or you can check into a
Canopus 3d, it has more texture memory. My Monster 3d can turn out 30+fps in
Q1, and about 27 in Q2. And it doesn't bog down too much in deathmatches/ctf
games when a lot of objects are flying around.

Good luck, let us know what you end up doing.
