Earthmaps (working example)

Hi Remi,  

Nice chatting with you at the WebGL meetup. 

As we discussed, it would be great to collaborate on creating a working example of your 3D REST spec using Earth height maps by NASA. 

This is the main resource I'm using:

My aim is to release all the raw assets as open source at: 

http://github.com/earthmaps 

And a full web service, free to use for educational purposes at: 

http://earthmaps.org 

Hopefully we can make it the definitive solution to download terrains.
