A question related to my last posting...

I've heard (via Reddit - and not really Dug into it) - that if you do designs and upload them to MakerWorld - that you get like "frequent flyer miles" type things - and, if you get Enough of them - you can supposedly get a Free 3D Printer from Bambu!

And - going even Farther down the Rabbit Hole of MakerWorld - I just saw that there is some kind of Crowdfunding via the MakerWorld website. I was kinda SHOCKED to see it - and just now saw a LOT of WILD projects on there!!!

Is this Crowdfunding solely happening on MakerWorld & it Unrelated to a platform like KickStarter??? I just clicked on a project - and it is indeed still a URL that exists within the MakerWorld platform.

I gotta say - it's a VERY Interesting discovery for me - FOR SURE!

Yes, but, consider that Printables ALSO has the same type of programs.   Sure you may get more exposure in Makerworld, and if you have a Bamboo printer thats probably the way to go.  I have already got a free spool of Prusament. I have earned a second and am about to earn my third from printables.     I am waiting a bit before I cash #2 in.

Sadly my friend bought a CoreOne-L but didnt put my referral code on it.  Please if you are going to buy a printer check if someone has referral codes for that manufacturer and gets points/miles/fillament/whatever for your purchase (hint if you get one from Prusa check with Andy then me :-) ).

With printables you get points for I think up to ten models by other folks you make in a month. You also get points for the first few models you upload and some other getting started stuff.   Also you get points when people download and people like your models BUT there are thresholds to get those and the counters are month by month… I finally got some points for a Barbie bathroom fixture remix I did (I improved the seat a lot) a year or so after I uploaded it.

I do find it sad how many people download models etc without hitting like - its not just the points that matter to creators , some of us just get off on the feedback

Mr. Doppelgänger - thank you for ALL of that information & feedback - I really, REALLY appreciate it!

I really need to figure out what is the Pros & Cons of Printables vs. MakerWorld - and decide upon WHICH one is the BEST option to truly interact with.

I created a Printables account - like last year January - as I was working on something for Someone from this forum (who totally dropped out of the forum) - and he wanted me pulling things down from that site. And, I think it was only Recently (like a week or 2 ago or so - in order to DL the 3DP Filter unit parts) - that I created the MakerWorld account.

But, Kurt-A, have you seen, checked out or explored any of the Crowdfunding things on MakerWorld? I wonder if Printables has something similar...
