Finally getting around to enclosing my XL and this looks like the way to go for me.
Anyone here build one of these? This is exactly the design we were thinking about way back. I know Kurt G went with Prusa’s. Looks like a fun build. In prep for it I’m also going for one of those heated insert tools rather than doing it my old way with the threaded insert on a bolt and heated up with a torch. The orders are on the way.

Okay, story time.

I was looking to convert the AMS for my X1C into the Python, which essentially uses bigger gears and directly drives the spools with an insert rather than as the AMS does with tiny rollers.

I started printing it, and decided to order the plexiglass kit from Voxel.

Man… what a nightmare.

First, I received printed PETG parts for the Python, instead of the plexiglass. Plus they didn’t send the rolls of PETG I had ordered to finish printing.

Support was nice enough and apologized for the mixup. I got a shipment notification. A few days later a big box arrived. It had one roll of PETG (I was supposed to get two), and another set of printed parts, and no plexiglass or hardware kit (all the screws, etc to assemble).

Support asked if I’d like to keep the printed parts, and offered them to me for pennies on the dollar. I told them to stuff it, they sent me the wrong stuff and I don’t have to pay for it. Just send me the hardware kit and plexiglass and don’t forget my roll of PETG. Well - PETG wasn’t in stock, fine send me some PLA

It had now been over a month since I had received the initial wrong shipment, which itself was two weeks late.

Another box arrived, it had filters and some power plugs. Unbelievable.

I did a charge back, and by this time was completely uninterested in finishing the python.

The panels arrived a few weeks later 😂

Bryan - it NOBODY Reading the Diatribe from my Doppelgänger and HIS HORRIBLE Experience with Voxel???

Funny thing is - I ordered the Filters from them - they shipped out FAST - all was GREAT! So - it's SO SAD to see your Experience as well as that of my  my Doppelgänger   - it's SAD indeed...

Somebody needs to get a HUMANOID on the Phone at Voxel - and tell them to SHAPE Up or SHIP OUT!!!!

Sounds like they are eventually going to CRASH and BURN as a Biz!

My purchase of hardware and panels I made is not with Voxel3d. The design on Printables is. The order is from a company via AliExpress with a separate supplier.

I think this is a different company. The guy that designed the enxlosure does not sell filament, nor Bambu mods.

I don't get it?!?!?

Why Mention Voxel - if you didn't buy from them??

The guy that designed it named his company Voxel3d…
Go there… Voxel3d.nl
The company that Kurt G wrote about is Voxelpla.com.

I printed one of the Voxel3D filters from Printables. It was a big waste of filament. Tolerances didn't fit the fans or the magnets or the filters. The design used a lot more filament than necessary, and ultimately was not usable.

Well - that certainly clears up my confusion. Also reminds me of when you were working with some software - talking about it in the podcasts - and it was using Voxels. I'm sure you know what I am talking about Andy...

Kurt this was before your whole ordeal.

But yes, I order filters and they ship fast and accurately. Never had an issue with those.

The Python is a specialty item, which they probably don’t have in their system clearly. I hope Andy doesn’t run into the same issues.

My bad, this is an enclosure model on Thingiverse, Voxel3D is the modeler.  It’s not a kit sold on Voxel. Although wouldn’t surprise me if they offered something like it soon.

Bryan

"Kurt The 3D Printer GUY" - aka "Kurt 1" is not the dude with the ordeal.   It was "Kurt A" aka "the other kurt" aka "kurt 2 (though I prefer Kurt A)"

Modeler as in, the guy or gal that modeled it.

Here’s the enclosure (it’s actually on Printables not Thingiverse):
