OK Jody - here you go!

Here's the deal. The object you created the bumps on - create a new Slicer scene - drop in Original Object - and then drop in the one from Bumpmesh. Save the new scene as a 3MF file. My program will then do the work on the bumps. And - if you use the name that BumpMesh gives - that would be perfect. 

Yes - I created and opened the files in SnapMaker. In fact, you could DL SnapMaker slicer (an Orca fork) - and if you did it that way - and created your 3MF scene file - then - what my program produces should then easily open up in the SnapMaker slicer!

I would LOVE to have some people start trying out my program!!!

I am REALLY Bummed about the silence after my posting. Heck - if there are folks here on the forum who HAVE a Bambu - or an XL - or a SnapMaker - it would be cool if I can have people test out my new tool. And, in doing so - prep different versions of the parts from Jody - so that he could add them to his Printables project - and give DL options for multiple different prints!

Well I don't know what I'm supposed to do so I took something tossed it in bumpmesh, then did as you said and imported the bump mesh and original object then saved that 3MF.

It's running but very slowly. Doesn't seem to utilize multi cores. I'm on a 12700K overclocked, it's only utilizing 4-5% CPU with nothing else running:

Bryan - thanks SO MUCH for giving it a shot and trying it out!!!

So, yeah - I should have Forewarned folks - it runs Painfully slow - literally was taking like 30 min on my PC. 

AS such, this morning I had a chat with my BFF - Mr. Claude - and discussed options to greatly speed it up. I had suggested potentially moving the code to C# - and he agreed that may be a viable option - although he told me several downsides. But, then he went on to explain - and issue with the algorithm he built - and how one particular change could greatly speed things up - and it DID! As he claimed - it's like an 18x speed improvement! I checked the 3MF file output - and how the objects looked - same Bracelet design - with old vs. new - in 2 sessions of the slicer - Before and After slicing - and they looked IDENTICAL in Both instances. So - the cleaning up of the algorithm worked!!!  Needless to say - the algorithm and the mathematics is Pretty Darned Intense for what it is trying to do. 

If you want More details about the algorithm change - just say so - and I will post there the feedback from Claude - as some might find it interesting.

I'm confused, what is this tool supposed to be doing?

The resultant 3MF appended with "split" is identical to the original 3MF. Although the "split" version says it will print in 9 hours 59 minutes compared to 10 hours 4 minutes for the file that wasn't run through the tool.

Was I supposed to have the bump model file and the original file superimposed on each other or something?

Okay tried it again with a different model/texture and it kind of worked:

First - I'm curious - did you run the new version - AND - did it run WAY Faster?

There is something I failed to mention - but, even the file that was produced - you can still make the change there!

Here's the deal. Open the file in SnapMaker Slicer. Now pick the object with the Bumps. Then - in Process selection - Switch from Global to Objects. At that point - the bumpy version of the object should now have TWO Sub-Parts. One should be labeled as "..._Bumps". So if you click Either the Base or the Bumps version - Right-click on it to and select Change Filament - pick a different filament/tool - and BOOM - that should do it! 

The original trick was - Orig object NO Bump - Set that to like Filament 1. Then, for your Bumpy object - set it to Filament 2. Then, after processing - in the New file - the Bumpy object should NOW be 2 colors!!!

Also, an idea for you A quick way to do this is simply select both objects then align left-right and front-back in the slicer:

Darn - sorry - I thought you were using the SnapMaker slicer! 

But, yeah - either way - what ever is the output - should in theory work for Multiple slicers - Bambu, SnapMaker and Prusa. So - yeah - that's a bummer...

That's a good idea. And, I can toss the idea to Claude and see if it's helpful. But, I suspect it might not make a difference - since it's essentially the same thing.

OK Jody - here we go!

I thought you would have multiple bumpy objects in your Printable link - but, alas - I see you did not. 

So - I did DL your main handle unit - and I used BumpMesh to make several mods - Voronoi, Hexagon and Weave. I then ran the Voronoi and the Weave bump units with my Tool - Voronoi succeeded. But, alas - Weave was a Fail.

And - the Voronoi version - the 3MF file is attached - Base model Removed to reduce file size - as GG here has size limits. I Hope this posting works...

OMG - I laughed so hard when I checked out the link - specifically the comment of - "My friend Kurt who does not have a Printables account made this. I'm posting it on his behalf with his permission."!!!

Why? Cause - I DO indeed have an account. I just have Barely used it. I used it specifically for when I did a project for SliceWorx back in 2025. 

FYI - my original point was that since you had that Printables project of your BumpMesh related handle units - and you put the challenge to me - and since I then took up the challenge and printed one - I figured you could post it in your original Printables project - the Pic as well as the 3MF file. 

But, now you got me thinking. I wonder if I could do a Printables project/"Thing" - where I could Actually post my EXE file - so other folks could DL it and RUN it!

FYI - I'm printing a complete set of the parts - as in, another one of the Voronoi handles - along with 2 sets of handle Bottom and Top units - and even one of the measuring unit things.

If it all works out - and it's completed when I get back to my place tonight - I may then install it on one of my kitchen cabinet door sets!

The Plan is to make Multiple handles - but, different versions and different colors - mostly for the fun of it!!

Well - I have Good news and Bad News!

The good - the set of parts printed Nicely:

It will NOT Fit ANY of my cabinet handles! The holes piece you have - the screw holes in mine are Closer together Vertically and now I must Throw the Voronoi printed handles away...

I'm SO Bummed!!!!

There is a Rectangular hole in the handles and in the Bottom units. What is that for???

Those are to drop in M3 hex nuts. Now I have to go look at my "thing" description to see if I failed to document that.

Since the cabinets I was making handles for did not have any pre-drilled holes, I didn't even consider that there might be a standard hole spacing for door handles.

A quick update...

Yesterday I had Claude fix a problem with my Bump_Split tool - and it should be working better now. It was actually corrupting the 3MF file in SOME Instances. 

I then re-did the bumps on the new handle units - but, I need to tweak things - as the slicer was Stupidly trying to put in massive amounts of Supports - since, Obviously my Bumps were TOO Big! I'm trying to redo it this morning - and, if I succeed - I will kick off a print - and hopefully have the print job completed and installed by later today. If so - I will then post pics AND I will also try and create a Printables Thing page for it!
