I’m building a Ratrig V-cast Idex, specifically the wideboy v1.5 variant (300mm cube print volume). My goal is a machine for Pete/pla full support printing . RR discontinued selling the Vcast kits in favor of the V-core a while back, but they did provide a final update (1.5) with cad (fusion) files and some documentation.I have a VMinion and really love that little printer , used it to crank out the printed parts for this build in ASA and ABS. And I just love RatRigs chunky extrusion builds , very sturdy machines . I self sourced all the other parts and sent a few things out to be machined.

I went with the vcast because I could leverage some hardware I had on hand and it’s a simpler build than a VCore (although I already looking at eventually building a V-core) . It’ll be reprap firmware to start since there are existing IDEX config files, probably move to klipper eventually. Going to adapt at the Tenlog mod Andy did for avoiding ooze when heads are parked.

Hey Scott - thanks for sharing all the pics and your build info! It sure looks like a bit of a Beefy sucker.

So, I saw in the one pic - the 2 sets of pulleys on the Gantry. I guess that means the 2 print heads can move "independently" in X - although the both move same in Y. Does that mean, once built - you can do Copy mode and Mirror printing modes? Just curious...

yes - the 2 printheads can run independently of one and other in X. So yes, you could do 2 material/color, copy or mirror printing.
