It will just get better and better. In time auto loaders will fade and Toolchangers will dominate the market.

I sent the last link - to the article - before I saw your Video. Yup - same video as the link in the Article I posted!

And - I had a Thought! A Way to blend the colors even MORE SO Than what is in the video!!!

I think it JUST Makes Sense!

That is...

Print in ABS - then Acetone Vapor Smooth and Object - and BOOM - an even MORE Interesting effect to truly Blend the colors!!!

RIGHT???????????????

Of course - I just need to Prove it...

Kurt,

It is good idea, but the effect for Colormix, or Full Spectrum as it is called elsewhere, depends on an optical effect of the precise pattern of small even layers. It would be interesting to see if vapour smoothing helps or disrupts that effect.

For those of you who have not already read the article in the link below - you really should. I'm not done reading it - am doing it right now - and the science behind the whole things is VERY FASCINATING To Read!!!

I have to say - this is REALLY Frustrating!

In the article - I go to the "ColorMix Shady Fish" link - which is essentially prepped up and ready to go as a print test.

On that webpage - I do the EasyPrint option - which is essentially like a Webpage slicer (although I don't think it slices - it's Pre-sliced - and I think it just changes parameters - like filaments used) - and it DOES Allow you to select prepping for a Different printer - as it starts with the option to print on a Core1+ INDX machine. So - I find SnapMaker as an option - but, this is the problem:
Easy Print NO U1.jpg

WTF!?!?!? Seriously? They list various printers - and specifically SnapMaker printers - but, NO U1 option!?!?

That's kind of Dumb!

Oh well...

I was REALLY HOPING It was just a problem with the EasyPrint THING! But - NOPE - I just did updates on my PC for the PrusaSlicer - and was trying to update Configurations - in the hopes that I COULD Slice for my SnapMaker U1 - But, again - it's a NO GO!

Ugh...

I dont know why you think it’s Prusa’s responsibility to support Snapmakers printers on their cloud or on prusaslicer.   As far as Prusaslicer is concerned SNAPMAKER could have uploaded a configuration to Prusa so that prusaslicer would natively support it - instead they cloned orcaslicer.   By the way can you slice files ont he SNAPMAKER slicer for my XL?    Anyway this link here was found by me after a trivial duck duck go (no AI) search: https://wiki.snapmaker.com/en/third_party_software/prusaslicer_with_snapmaker_printers  .   The current beta of prusaslicer I belive will do the multi fillament sliceing you are looking for.

Mr. WiseGuy Doppelgänger!

Are you really not aware of the PS being a slicer used by MANY People for MANY Printers Other than the Prusa printers???

You MUST Know that!!!

That is the ONLY REASON I am pushing the Prusa Slicer for this stuff - since I really WANT to try this Color Mixing stuff!

And - the Link you posted - LOOK CLOSELY - it shows only a J1 Printer and NOT the U1 Printer of SnapMaker!!! That is my point!

Come On BRO - Throw Me a REAL Bone here...

But Kurt,

You’re a software guy right? You know that for a manufacturer to get their machine recognised by Prusa Slicer, they have to generate a profile and then do a pull request to get the Prusa Slicer devs to consider it for inclusion in a future release. It isn’t up to the Prusa devs to continually scan the market for new machines they can add.

Snapmaker obviously produced Prusa Slicer profiles for their older machines, before they released Snapmaker Orca.

Luke - what you say makes sense. I had not considered the process of profile inclusions by Prusa. And, yeah - now that SnapMaker has their own Orca fork - I guess they need not bother submitting profiles to Prusa. Have you tried the Color Mixing stuff in the SM Orca slicer?

I use the feature as part of my everyday workflow - if there is a an extra colour I need, or even if I just can’t be bothered swapping spools on the printer for a small amount of a colour that I know I won’t need again for months, I just fake it with Full Spectrum, rather than acquiring another spool that might sit in a shelf for months/years until I needed it again.

It has made printing a little more cost efficient, since even if you have to buy some spools, you can be flexible on the colours, and get some great deals, knowing that you can dial it in with Full Spectrum.

I’ve also used it to generate the same effect that you might get from using rainbow filament, but in the colours I want (you just paint a colour gradient).

So - you are doing this in SnapMaker Orca Slicer???

As is - I just got this email today from SnapMaker:

Dear Community,

Good news! Full Spectrum is now officially integrated into Snapmaker Orca V2.3.4 Beta, allowing Snapmaker U1 users to access this feature directly within the Snapmaker official slicing workflow.

Go beyond the limit of 4 colors and unlock richer multi-color blends for more expressive 3D prints. Explore the four Full Spectrum modes (Ratio, Cycle, Match, and Gradient) to create unique virtual tones, layered effects, and smooth color transitions across your models.

We've prepared a step-by-step video guide to help you get started with Full Spectrum effortlessly. For the best print results, we recommend using translucent filaments with suitable TD values, such as filament bundles designed specifically for color blending. Snapmaker will also launch Full Spectrum Filament Bundle optimized for color-mixing printing in future updates—stay tuned! 👀

Download Snapmaker Orca V2.3.4 Beta to unlock the Full Spectrum feature. Final color performance may vary depending on filament characteristics, model structure, and slicing settings. This feature is designed for artistic color exploration and creative expression, rather than precise, calibrated color reproduction.

Full Spectrum started as a community idea—born from makers’ trials, creativity, and open-source exploration. We’re incredibly grateful for every tester, contributor, and community member who helped grow this project💛

Keep sharing your Full Spectrum prints, software feedback, and creative ideas in our community—your contributions will continue to shape the future of Full Spectrum and the next generation of color 3D printing.

Best Regards,
The Snapmaker Team

I started using the beta Full Spectrum Snapmaker Orca fork, then moved back to regular Snapmaker Orca when they hired the guy who created the fork and integrated Full Spectrum into Snapmaker Orca.
