The Neptune 4 Plus

I took the whole print head apart again and cleaned and greased the gears again, then put the old nozzle back on. I then heated the nozzle up to 240°C and used a acupuncture needle to clean out the tip. I loaded up the basic PLA and restarted the last print. I have no idea which one of these processes worked but it's now printing again. I printed a 6 inch tall cylinder and it printed flawlessly. 

The Halot X-1

Now to something I know a lot more about: A couple weeks ago I ordered a Halot X-1 from Amazon with 2 day delivery and i noticed that 2 days into the delivery it still had not shipped yet and it ended up being over a week late. After some back and forth from Amazon as to why it was so late they ended up comping the printer and refunding me in the form of store credit and keep the printer.

This ended up being terrible, the printer  was DOA with a dead screen and since it was "free" neither Amazon nor Creality will warrantee and screens are currently out of stock it so I got a really cool looking paperweight.

Glad to see the Neptune is printing correctly. So - at this point - you were NOT able to determine the exact problem??

As for the Halot 3DP. I know you now got it for free. Am curious - what was the original cost? I mean, the cost for a replacement screen is MUCH Cheaper than the cost of a whole printer. I do understand - that at this moment it's a paper weight - and that's a bummer. But, if you can get a replacement screen soon - you will have gotten a printer Quite cheaply. What about getting the printer via AliExpress? And, there is no version of the screen available anywhere on Amazon? Have other folks on the web spoken about having a dead screen - and if so - has anyone sourced an alternate source for the screen??

The Halot was $399, I am not sweating it at this moment, I only picked it as a tester. I love trying out new resin printers. Tomorrow I have a HeyGears Reflex RS coming in.

I still have not pin pointed the actual issue with the Neptune but its printing perfectly for now. I even tortured it with a 12 hour TPU print today.

I'm Gonna Rock this 3-Day holiday weekend with Lots of 3DP Stuff - as I also just got my Canvas unit! And, I am pushing my Koozi design TOO!!!! Among other design projects...

Awsome Kurt, I got my Canvas on the first wave, it was easy to install even with my gnarled sausage fingers.

Also a new turn of events with the Halot. This morning I kid you not I got an email that said, er are sorry we can not provide a replacement part for you but here is your tracking number on your replacement part. According to the tracking it will show up today so who knows whe. They sent it. I am spending my holiday weekend resin printing parts for 1/8th model cars.

Great news on that part shipping. 

As for your Canvas - Dang dude - How MANY printers do you actually have?

I dealt with Resin printers a number of years ago, when I was working for EnvisionTec. I was actually hired to do Tech Support - so, yeah - it was my true Intro to resin printing - and I had to Ramp up quickly and Learn fast for the job. 

My 1st day of training - they gave me this small print - and had me remove the supports. Sadly - I did NOT take a pic of the part with the supports. I was BLOWN Away by the details - and how small it was - the diameter was about the size of a quarter:

I am curious as to what precautions you take with resin printing? I have stayed away from it partly because of the toxicity of the resins, and also I have never needed super resolution in my parts, strength was always more important.

Yeah David - it's why I really never had an interest in owning a Resin printer. UGH - the stories I could tell in regards to my days at EnvisionTec. Ironically - for me - Covid was WORSE than the Resin exposure - as I came down with Covid REALLY Badly - and was Stuck in my hotel room in Michigan for like 6 days - as I was there in the Detroit area for training. 

When I DID get back to work and doing the training (they had me there for like 2 or 3 weeks - something like that) - that when I really had to deal with the nasty stuff. I had to clean off some REALLY BIG Parts - like this one Bucket type design - I think it was like a 12 Diameter bucket. I submerged the part in IPA - and was scrubbing it - yeah - I had a Lab coat - Nitrile gloves & protective glasses on. But, part of the cleaning process - and this is kinda INSANE - was to Spray IPA on the part - then use a Compressed air gun/hose to Spray the IPA off - which of course had Resin in it. It was NASTY! I think I even used a Mask. But, after work that one day - I am back at my hotel room - chilling on sofa - watching TV - drinking a cold beer - then I started sniffing my arm and shirt - and it was Obvious that it was literally lightly coated with Resin & IPA - it was DISGUSTING!!!

Yeah - Glad to finally be away from that stuff! Ugh...

Kurt, I currently have 8 resin printers, 3 of which are "retired" and 6 filament printers. For a moment though I made it a hobby of buying FB Marketplace printers to "play with" then give away. 

David, I take all the standard precautions with resin printing except using the face covering, my basement has several exhaust fans that I have installed. I have been printing for a couple years now with resin and I have only had a couple mishaps.

I like the idea of resin. I may get one in a few years. The tech is progressing so fast.
