Ugh...

This sucks!!!!!!!!!

I tossed a spool of "TPU" to a neighbor in my building with a Bambu X2D - and he tossed the spool into the AMS - and prepped it to Print - and it started feeding in.

Then - We were like - OUCH - you can NOT Put TPU into a regular AMS!!!!!!

IN my case - it was actually NinjaFlex - the BLUE Stuff I was printing my Koozi. Plan was for him to print my Koozi. But, yeah - I shoulda Known - DAMN - do NOT put TPU into an AMS!!!!

Ugh...

And - yeah - for those that know - it's a WAY Old Spool - I had him try to go to the Website - for Fun - since it was listed on the Spool - and of course the site was DEAD!

We found some videos on how to resolve the problem - but, even after lifting up the PTFE Tube inside the AMS - where it connects to the "Splitter" unit - but, at that point - the filament is FULLY Jammed!

Even at Essentium - we pulled the AMS apart - but, that was YEARS ago - and it's WAY More sophisticated now! And - seems it's almost impossible to pull the AMS apart! Dang...

Any Suggestion???

-K   ...the guy with Bad Memory - and problem should have been avoided...

The filament is stuck in the splitter. It's easy to take apart. There will probably be little paws in it that it got stuck in.

I haven't taken apart my AMS2 yet but I don't believe it's much different than the AMS as far as the splitter goes.

Here's the guide:

One thing about Bambu, they have damn good and detailed assembly and disassembly guides!

Also, you may just be able to push the jam out by disconnecting the PTFE tube at the splitter and pushing a strand of PLA through it.

I was Indeed able to pull the PTFE Tube off the splitter -- but, yeah - the NinjaFlex is stuck IN the splitter area!

So - you mean - like Clip the NinjaFlex at that point - and THEN Try jamming some PLA into the orifice???

It does seem like it's Entwined within the Splitter unit. I know on the old AMS - there were some Screws - and it was easy to unscrew things - such that the main unit inside the AMS could be pulled out - and then you can get easy access to the undersides of the AMS controls and the splitter. But, with this new model - I saw NO Easy way to simply unscrew things to pull out the main unit!

Realized I had only responded to Kurt, so responding to the group.

Will have to disassemble the hub (splitter). I bet the TPU is wrapped around the extruder wheel:

Also, Bambu could probably resolve the issue of TPU in the AMS if they allowed you to preset the filament to TPU, and just reduced the speed in which the AMS pushes the filament.

The AMS is really nothing more than a bowden extruder that pushes the filament to the print head. I printed TPU on my old FLSun Q5, which was a bowden extruder. You just had to reduce the speed.

Yes - I agree - it's potentially viable to just slow things down for TPU.

That being said - a couple months ago I bought a black TPU - but, I was not paying attention - and it turns out that the filament I got was TPU for an AMS type device - and it's essentially stiffer on purpose. And, even Bambu themselves make a TPU that is specifically to be used with the AMS.

I just feel bad that I jammed up this dude's printer! Ugh...

I think that TPU for AMS crap is just slightly flexible PLA... lol

Sounds like you are Angry at that type of crappy filament!

As mentioned - I got that filament as a Mistake - I had NOT Noticed that part of the description of the filament. I was annoyed - as it really was VERY Stiff. At that point - It's not really like TPU anymore. Upside - it works well with other TPU's - like my old spool of NinjaFlex - here is another Koozi design - which incorporates the actual logo of Pako - the co. where I work:

Ouch - I forgot to mention this in my last reply.

The dude WAS able to get the TPU out - got his printer running again - fed my TPU into the other nozzle - and managed to print a Blue Koozi - and he really likes the way it looks!

So - All is Well that Ends Well...
