Good day all,

Thanks for allowing me to join. I have been printing a while now on my Ender 3 Pro and have done a mods to it to suit my needs.

Recently I got myself and Ender 6 so I can explore the world of CoreXY printing.

There were not a lot of reviews out there. More notable was the lack of reviews from the big youtube 3d printing players that usually get the first units to review like the print mill.

But still having enjoyed my Ender 3 and am  ot afraid of getting my hands dirty to mod and upgrade a printer , I went for the Ender 6.

So far the Ender 6 has not met they hype. At least the little bit of hype out there on youtube or what Creality themselves advertise.

I'm battling V-slot guide wheel issues, under extrusion and a dismal User interface and firmware issues in getting a BL touch 3.1 going.

Has anyone else here had similar experiences with the Ender 6?

Thanks

Jan

The lack of you tubers reviewing a machine could be because they do not want to pan a machine that is not worthy of purchase. Chances are a number of Tubers got them and hated them and decided it was better not to say anything rather then giving it a bad review which would then probably make them not get the next machine. I'm just guessing on that... but IME suppliers who give stuff away for review do not do it again if we give their freebee a thumbs down.
That said... This guy did one...!
Note... he liked it! Also note... he only has about 2K subscribers and only about 5K views.

Oh yeah... In my opinion...
Delrin rollers and CoreXY are NOT a good idea! It kinda defeats the value of the CoreXY! CoreXY should ONLY have Industrial sliders on Concave rails.... In my opinion.

Agreed... It's one of my planned upgrades.

  Thanks,

I did watch his review and a few other out there.

I'm not unhappy that I got it for myself as I did plan on tinkering with it and doing mods and so on.

What is a bit frustrating is that at it's price point and the way it was presented it almost seemed like an "Almost-Ready-To-Fly" (old RC term there) machine out of the box when in fact it is not. Creality's advertising in this case was a bit misleading with the promise of three times the speed at the same precision is not kept.

If one is new to 3d printing , all I can say is avoid the Ender 6 for now.

I'm on my way in getting it sorted and even if it doesn't sound like, am enjoying the process.

BTW , love your podcasts! It's one of my favorites and I have them downloaded on my phone so that while I'm cruising the rural roads of New Zealand, I have a couple of 3D printing guys with me in the Pick-up.

I have a CoreXY printer (not an Ender 6)  that had Delrin rollers. The print quality was not so much bad as unreliable. You would occasionally get a decent print, but it seemed to depend a lot on the geometry of the model and the orientation on the bed (and the state of the rollers, which used to wear against the extrusion).

In the end I replaced the rollers with MGN12 linear rails and the improvement in both print quality and reliability was obvious.

It was a fairly painless process, but did require a reasonable amount of engineering to redesign the X and Y carriages to suit.

If you go that way my best advice is to buy the rails cut to size. Mine were left over from another project, and I had to cut them down. Turns out even the cheap rails are hardened steel, and the only thing in my garage that would cut the suckers was an angle grinder with a decent cutoff wheel. Not the neatest work I’ve ever done…. :P

Interesting note about the Delrin rollers. Which reminded me - that I wanted to make a specific reply back to a podcast of Andy's re: Delrin. Thanks for the reminder...

My Ender 6 has become a real project so far. I'm busy swopping out the stock controller and screen for a Bigtreetech SKR board and TFT screen to match. It's mostly just plug and play accept for the "X" stepper motor that needs to be direction changed by means of a wire swop. I couldn't hack it in the firmware. Changing the "X - Direction" in the firmware does a soft change to the coreXY driving of the whole X-axis and not just the X-stepper motor. I had to draw myself some pictures to figure that one out :D
