I got these pics in a text from my son, with the comment " This is not good right"
I asked if he watched the 1st layer like I told them. No, was the answer. So the real problem is the scarring on the build plate. Is this common when a hotend is broken off? He thinks the leveling was off ( I have them level ever time ), but without watching I find that hard to believe,  as I have never had this problem yet. And I have way more hours on my machine. All thoughts welcome.  New hotends on the way.

I haven't had this happen personally but it does pop-up on the  FB group occasionally. I believe it's tied to certain firmware versions?? For some reason the machine will lose the Z offset. If you catch it you can power cycle the machine and give it a few minutes to disipate the capacitors that hold the power loss recovery info for the current print you were attempting. Then you can restart the machine and try again with doing a leveling routine at the start of the print.

The newest firmware version 1.4.46(I believe) is pretty stable. I've printed about 60 hours with it and haven't had any issues.

Dang - that really SUCKS!!!

I messed up once on a VisionMiner printer - and actually bent the thermal tube - which looks like what I see in your pics. In theory - you might be able to simply bend it back straight - and it may work. Like - after doing that just try extruding a lot of filament to confirm it looks like you have Good Flow. It's just a thought - as I know you already have  a new Hot End on the way to you.

Now - when you say - scaring on the build plate - you DO mean the Build sheet - the flexible PEI sheet that you pull of the bed. Right? I mean - if that's the case - you might be able to simply flip it over. But, if you have scarring in the bed of the printer - that would not be good. IF it's just the PEI sheet - you might be able to simply flip it over and use the other side.

Do you have a MicroCenter near you???

The scaring was on the pei sheet. He had upgraded the firmware to the new version.  There is definitely a bug there where it looses the z offset. I have not upgraded my machines firmware,  but I forgot to tell him not to do it.

Honestly - I don't think I have EVER upgraded the FW on my ECC1.  I did NOT have the machine on my network - although I think I recently Did finally connect it - when I found I could not connect the U1 to my Wifi.

Understood - re: PEI Sheet. Got it. If you flip it over - how bad does it look from the other side - is there a Noticeable bump??

I never ran into this problem, but my part cooling fan was freaking out on v1.4.46.  I thought the bearings were busted.  I contacted Elegoo for a replacement and they had me downgrade to v1.1.25.  Now everything is working again.

That seems to be the "safe" firmware for the CC1.

Note: it might actually have been v44.  I think v46 is pretty new?
