I thought some folks might like to see how this KickStarter campaign is coming along!
I'm honestly VERY Excited about this project and CAN NOT WAIT to get the unit in my Grubby Hands!!!!
The project for which I want to use it for - I am going to try and work on Fast Tracking it forwards - hopefully make some SERIOUS progress on it this weekend! Plan is - Tweak the design of my part this weekend and get some pieces printed - Slices of the part - to see sizing fit and scale.
Then - Phase Two - me and one of my co-workers - I hope to print some prototypes in TPU - strangely - idea will be to print in Parts - then glue prototype together - this way, Avoid using Supports - that will Mar the prototype. After printing the initial prototype parts, gluing them together - then get them in the hands of people Locally to me - to Try out my prototype - to get me Important Feedback!
Next Phase Three - reach out to some of the folks HERE - of which 2 of them I am already in touch - and see about printing on either Tool Changers - or Bambu H2D - with PLA supports - and TPU printing of Model! Again - doing that to produce MORE Prototypes to get test units into the hands of MORE Humanoids!
NEXT - Phase Four - the Biggie - Produce 3D Printed Molds - and produce a Larger # of prototypes(via the SaltGator) - and get them into the hands of even MORE Humanoids on the Planet.
Finally - the End Game - with lots of people trying my prototype (assuming earlier phases PROVE that folks find the prototype Helpful - and also PROVE that there is a Potential Demand for my prototype design) - I will then Launch a KickStarter Campaign - to truly Mass Produce my design and get it to WAY More Humanoids around the world!!!
But, for now - Got to start Small...
Plan is to have Phases 1-3 completed BEFORE my SaltGator unit is Delivered to me!

In this update, we’re excited to share key product upgrades, highlights from our recent AMA, and what’s coming next. Big Improvements to SALTGATOR ----------------------------- Since launching the project, we’ve received a ton of helpful feedback from community members, testers and content creators. We’ve carefully evaluated every suggestion and are proud to share several meaningful upgrades that will be implemented in the final production version. New Volume Scale Markings ------------------------- We’ve added scale markings next to the viewing window to make it easier to see exactly how much material you’re pouring in. This small detail makes a big difference in dosing accuracy and overall ease of use. Rotary Knob & Valve Upgrade ------------------------------- The knob mechanism has been upgraded to a direct-rotation design with deeper grooves for better grip and smoother operation — even with wet or gloved hands. We’ve also added valve markers and a stop-notch for safer, more precise workflow control. Heating Completion Alert ------------------------ To improve workflow and avoid unnecessary waiting, we features a distinct beeping sound when the heating process is complete, so you know exactly when it’s ready for injection. Sealing & Internal Leak Prevention -------------------------------------- We've made a concave design at the rotation part of the injection head and marked it to prevent users from forgetting to close the valve and causing leakage. We've also added a sealing ring at the motor base to enhance internal protection and prevent liquid from entering the device. Piston Flow Optimization & Tube Stabilization ------------------------------------------------- A new grooved piston design improves flow and makes post-use cleaning quicker and more effective. To address tolerance differences in the glass tube, we’ve added a circlip to keep it securely in place during operation. to 3D Printing Tips and Tricks
For those that didn't back the project - and considering 3D Printing Today is doing a Segment on the
Saltgator - I figured it would be a good time for an update.
The folks at Saltgator have been giving the backers updates - last was about a week ago. Sadly - they were supposed to ship out in like Mid to late Sept - then a prior update (on Sept 25th) claimed shipping Mid to Late Oct - - which it is right now - and so far - no notice about things shipping out yet. So - yeah - they are delayed. But, I am sure they will ship things out.
