Considering the other discussions currently - about enclosing of the Prusa XL - and my own endeavors to control the air flow (recirculate & filter it - also, FYI - I've been doing more work on that Mod lately - will soon follow-up to the forum about it!) in my Elegoo Centauri - I'm now considering a Topper unit for my U1.

Would the above purchase actually be Worth It???

This would not only allow me to enclose it - but, also - evenly heat the chamber and ALSO Filter the air that's circulating in the chamber - to potentially scrub all the plastic VOC's out of the air - before opening the door to pull out the print job.

There are a couple concerns I have. As mentioned by the OTHER Kurt - you don't want to heat chamber TOO Much - cause many of the printer components are essentially with in the general chamber area - namely - all the tool heads!

But, something else I need to point out. If you look at the front of the U1 - the Left side of the machine actually has air holes - so VOC's can leak out those holes - even if chamber is enclosed. Not sure if that is the only set of holes for air coming in and out of the chamber.

Which brings up another thing I DO NOT Like about the U1 - the spools are all sitting in open air - so, if you dry your spools - once you put them on the machine - they WILL Begin to collect moisture.

Anyway - that's it for now. I look forward to the feedback - especially from those folks already owning the U1 unit.

Methinks you worry too much.

VOC's bind to dust rather quickly, and the tiny amount that would leak out the holes is negligible. Run a HEPA filter. The X1C is sealed up even less than that U1 would be and a bento box removes all stink.

You may be right Bryan - re: Worry. But, I have been coughing TOO much lately - and it's Obviously the VOC's from my printers. As this does indeed coincide with my ramping up my printer usage - specifically my U1 unit!

Seems to me - putting on that Topper on my U1 - and using the Panda Breath - would indeed solve my problems!!!

Wouldn't you agree?

Kurt,

I can't speak to the VOC issue, as it's above my pay grade.

However that combination would give you an incredible amount of flexibility with regards to printing real engineering grade materials.

You don't need to cook your printer's components, a lot of people find that 60 to 65C affords all of the stree relief you need to prevent layer seperation and warping.

Hey Mark - thanks for the feedback! Yeah - that part of why I wanted to do this. I do indeed know that the new standard print volume temp is like 60C - although I still don't always trust that - since I've found great results in the past - like at VM - doing ABS & CF Nylon in like 90C or 80C chambers. I'd like to prove that 60C would indeed work well in my U1 for doing specifically ABS!

Understood re: Stress Relief!
