Elegoo Carbon RANT!

So - a really good buddy of mine from Essentium days - I told him I bought this new printer. When I told him what it was, he said there were online Rants about this printer - and potentially things that Elegoo were doing that were lies or almost outright stealing. He didn't give me much feedback - only hinted at issues by Elegoo. But, then today - he wrote back to me - and gave me the link to a specific Rant that was posted online. This is that video:

She even mentioned about prior firmware issues in prior Elegoo printer models that caused Thermal Runaway problems - and this is a pic showing one example of that issue:


To be honest, for the most part - I have been SUPER HAPPY with this printer, really rather thrilled to have it. But, this video gives me pause as to whether I should EVER Run this printer unattended - in case IT Should actually have a thermal runaway scenario - which would be VERY Bad - to say the least.

I'd be curious to know what others think about this video Rant - especially those than own the Centauri!

My question would be what printer is in your thumbnail, as that is not an elegoo printer. And why would that channel use a printer image that is not an elegoo printer to rant against elegoo? The Elegoo bed slingers use extrusion and wheels for the gantry like the old ender 3's.  That looks like some old rep-rap printer, that actually could experience a true thermal runaway.

Bambus had an issue with the X1C early on where a certain combination of events would entail a "thermal runaway", except it was really a non-issue (I recreated it on my kickstarter machine to test it out). Bambu corrected it with the next firmware update, and also explained how the ceramic hotends cannot physically exceed 300C due to them having more resistance the hotter they get, and the board can only supply so much wattage.

Same style hotend used on the Centauri. So even if software fails, the hardware should keep temperatures in line.

Now the entire kilpper thing is another issue altogether!

Bryan - you asked -- " what printer is in your thumbnail  " - but, you do NOT really mean Me! RIGHT???

But, yeah - thanks for your feedback. As for what the gal in the video is talking about - it's really NOT Cool What Elegoo is doing - mostly in regards to essentially "Stealing" Klipper.

Still - I'm am mostly SUPER Thrilled with my Centauri!

I'm cranking on one project now - that I will be giving an update shortly - and plan to post the project BACK on to Thingiverse! And - who knows - maybe it could potentially be a Thing-of-the-Week for the Podcast. Although - I know time is Seriously running out for that - as we are Fast approaching Halloween!!!

That message was probably me, as I had started to reply on a desktop and then finished in my Gmail app on my phone.

Anyway, in regards to the thumbnail, no I wasn’t talking about you. I was talking about that YouTuber.
