Good morning fellas! My name is Jason Bertoldie and I've been listening to your podcast for a little over a year and a half now. Thank you for the outstanding content and fun commentary.

The reason I'm emailing is in regards to the recent Kickstarter campaign by Makertech for the Proforge 3.  I read the specifics and thought that it checked the boxes I was looking to fill.  Linear rails, direct drive, fuel extruder, silent drivers etc.  I am no expert so wanted to get the opinions of a couple of folks that are, you guys!  Would you mind taking a look at the Proforge 3 and let me know what you think? I would appreciate any guidance you are able to give.  Here is the Kickstarter link:  PROFORGE 3: CORE-XY Dual Extrusion 3D Printer from £399/$559, via @Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/proforge-3d-printer/proforge-3?ref=android_project_share or you can simply search Kickstarted for the Proforge 3.  Thanks a million guys.  I look forward to hearing from you.

By the way, I hate auto correct! Sorry for the misspellings.

Which was the auto correct? The one I noted below? I didn't know 3DP's
required fuel. Is it unleaded Gas or just Diesel? And, does this mean
the 3DP can be run without being plugged into a wall outlet???

It's a clone of the Creativity Elf Corexy 3d printer that is already available in the market. That one has bed leveling and cable routing issues to the extruder. Their challenge is also going to be the same with the extra wires for the second Hotend and servo. You don't want VGA cables and cable chains adding variable forces (even small) on the Extruder carriage.

Hi Jason,

I backed this Kickstarter myself.

Things to keep in mind:

The Dual Extrusion head is an additional cost add-on.

So are the mic6 bed and the enclosure.

Teaching Tech did a review of the Makertech Dual extrusion head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag7b9jOhlPY

In general, Kickstarter offerings take a good bit of tweaking and tuning to get working reasonably well.

I think this design has a lot to offer at a somewhat high, but not unreasonable price.

All reasonably priced Kickstarter printers are based on existing off the shelf Chinese 3d printers.

In this case I believe a slightly modified Two Trees Sapphire Plus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTFhf0JAevs

Hey Mark. I was just checking to see if you received your Proforge 3 yet.  Got mine last week and just completed the assembly and first Benchy.  The outlook is good.

I did have one of my parts cooling fans that will need replacing.  I think I have one on hand to replace it with.  I hate the prospect of rerouting the wiring though.

Yes, I did receive it.

I've been so freakishly busy at work that I haven't even opened the box yet.

I'll post something when I get going on it.

Mark
