Hey there folks,

I figured some of you might find this interesting - even though the machine is way outside the scope of Hobby level printers.

Yes, it's really a lot of marketing hype. But, still - I think they have done some pretty slick upgrades on this printer. So - feel free to check out this video of the new IDEX-22 Version 4 release:     VisionMiner IDEX V4 Release

RepRap firmware is an interesting choice to stick with in a world that has shifted largely to Klipper for high performance machines.

I'm sure they have a more than a little invested in it. It's actually encouraging to see that they aren't the bandwagon kind of printer developer.

There's nothing wrong with RepRap. It just the constant stream of Klipper hype (not in a negative context) that we see these days.

Hey Jody,

It's nice to see you're reply. But, OF COURSE I knew you would reply - as I know you're a fan of using Nano!

Are you STILL using Nano???

Too bad I screwed up the Subject line - it should have been "V4" and not "V$"! Duh...

The pic you showed - which was from controlling the 3DP via a PC and connecting to the IP address. I believe originally they had a Duet Knockoff board in the printers. However, I think they are now using True Duet Boards in the printers. Also, the control panel on the front of the 3DP - that is totally new!

As for Klipper - I am REALLY Sure they are using some version of that - and I thought Rob mentioned that in the Video. The creator of the 3DP - Nazar from Ukraine (and he now lives right near VM in SoCal) - he was showing me some CRAZY STUFF (before I left the co.) - where he was experimenting with pushing the 3DP to print SUPER FAST! And - it was NUTS To see!

So - not sure - but, I thought they WERE using some variant of Klipper. But, I don't know much more than that...

On a related note - I reached out to my buddy Rob - about the Video. We chatted online last night a little bit about that (as well as him moving into his own apartment). But, another reason I reached out - is cause he mentioned the potential of 5-Degree printing (you know - they show the bed swiveling around - thus it's READY for 5D printing). Well - he told me about these folks who have a new Slicer - which CAN Indeed do Non-Planar printing AND thus 5D printing.

THIS is that Slicer:   Layer Performance Slicer

The only reason I assumed they were using RepRap firmware is that the on-printer screen and the web interface they showed were clearly either Duet-based or copied from the Duet Web Control interface. It's a clean interface, and I like it. It looks exactly like the Duet interface and web control on my SeeMeCNC BossDelta.

Now that I think about it, the DWC could probably have been ported to work with Klipper. So... assumptions and all that. 🤔
