Listening to the segments on timelapse, Just a thought I had, but haven't thought through all the details.  Would it be possible to toggle an unused GPIO pin on/off through g-code on layer changes?

The thought being something as follows.  On each layer change execute G-code to do the following...
1) park the head whereever you need to
2) trigger a GPIO pin event which is fed into an intermediate board (Arduino, pi, w/e suits your fancy).
3) Have the intermediate board trigger an IR Led,  relay, really whatever you need to trigger the camera

Am I over simplifying it?
Presumably you would need various delays inserted into the above at certain stages to allow time for things to happen (gantry moves, camera trigger, etc).  Might even be able to have 2 GPIO pins,  an output and an input,   Output to trigger the camera sequence stuff,  the input would be triggered from the intermediate board to basically to signal that the camera is done and printing can resume.

Some duet GPIO info...

A really rube goldberg way to do it would be to trigger a servo move to mechanically push the cameras shutter button.

Yeah, no doubt it could be done. Do I have the time? Nope. Two projects already lined up for next week.
