Hey, everybody else with a CC, are you using Orca or Elegoo slicer?

I've been using ElegooSlicer as my default and honestly I haven't really had too many complaints up until now.  It mostly just worked, but I've increasingly become frustrated by the defaults.
  • Arachne?  Nope, defaults to classic.
  • Seam position in the back?  Nope, defaults to just aligned.
  • Bottom and top shell layers are fairly high (5 on top), but I just realized that top/bottom shell thickness settings are so high that it was preventing me from actually reducing the top/bottom layer count.
  • Freaking rectilinear infill. Come on man, why is this still the default?
I have a whole bunch of other small settings annoyances, but those particularly drive me crazy.

Maybe there's no point to this and I just needed to rant.

Just updated OrcaSlicer for the first time in a long time.  Frustratingly it has a lot of the same defaults.

If you have a lot of preference changes you can make them and then save the profile as a unique named profile... Such as "My Elegoo Centauri Carbon .04".. then when you want a different set of settings just pick that variant. I personally can't stand the the brim setting default. I turned it off and saved it as a "My" profile.

Otherwise I pretty much just just elegoo slicer because of its added functionality when sending files to trip the leveling routine or set the specific bed side.

Orca is more up to date and has a few more features but you're limited to not having that extra customization in the Elegoo variant.

I'm trying to work out a good profile for Simplify3d even though it's old and not as updated it's still my preferred slicer. Simplify sent me a base profile but when I did a test print it had a few issues in the post processing scripts that I need to sort through.

I know.  I'm just frustrated that the defaults aren't saner.  It's tedious to check every damn profile and every damn permutation.  I wish the profiles were defined more hierarchically so I could make a change at the root and that would cascade to all the child profiles.
