I just got an email from E3d. They are discontinuing the Toolchanger. Wow… but I should not be surprised. They never followed through on turning it into a real completed product and the market for very expensive half baked things is very limited these days.
Add to that they never got a completed CAN based system with accelerometer support per tool in rrfw.

As such we should not be surprised if the Prusa XL as a toolchanger never happens. I would bet they never solved the priming challenge.

Figures all the interesting events happen while the podcast is in hiatus!

The E3D tool changer was always a prototype rather than a production design. They never intended to be in the production printer business.

Prusa is already shipping XL toolchangers, and showing them at the various appropriate venues.

They have just started shipping only two tool machines. They haven’t started shipping the five tool systems yet.

Prusa ships 5 tool systems to shows. Joel took delivery of one of those recently after the show and showed the reassembly on a livestream. The five tool assembly manual is on the web. https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/1-introduction_480770.

Two tools is the defining step. The technical elements required for five tools are already required for a two tool changer.

Thanks for the link. I haven't been paying attention the past month. I downloaded the PDF and started looking through it. Yes it is detailing how to complete the setup for the 5 extruder HW. One thing I see in there thats VERY interesting is that each parking place has a "Nozzle Seal"! From what I can see in these docs when parked the nozzle is blocked!
