SAD Fusion3 Liquidation!

I recently heard that Fusion3 was shutting down - and Liquidating. 

Again - VERY Sad to me - as I interviewed them at Inside 3D Printing Expo 2016 in NYC when they were just releasing the new printer - the F400:

And, now - a friend of mine just gave me the link to the Liquidation Auction:

I was at MWRRF 2013 when Chris made one on his first sales.

I wasn't as fancy as the one in the video, 8 bit marlin, smaller build volume, not enclosed.

Chris was on this board or maybe the prior one for a while, then his business partner posted for Fusion3 for a while.

It's hard to compete with Bambu.

It seems, according to Pawel - Bambu is like OWNING the Desktop 3DP Market. Funny - he stated in the one article:   "... entry-level printers priced below $2,500 already account for 54% of all hardware revenue. Four brands: Bambu Lab, Creality, Elegoo, and Anycubic represent 88% of all 3D printers shipped worldwide." - Funny - cause I own printers from 3 out of 4 of those companies!!!

Will say - it's VERY COOL To hear what you said - about seeing Chris make one of his first sales in 2013. Sadly - I went to the video I posted - and I saw ONE Response - claiming Chris was STEALING His Tech and ripping him off!!!    Ugh, so sad indeed...

Yeah I recall some bad blood between Chris and one of the guys at SeeMeCnc.

It seems they printed alot of the spools used in that fishing line instead of belts motion system.

I have no knowledge about who is right or wrong.

Yeah - I hear ya. I saw that note on my Video - oddly - I haven't gone to that video webpage for years. Plus - it's kinda Dumb for them to post that note on my Video - it's NOT like the video was posted by Chris or that he would actually SEE the video!

Bambu is owning the market because they had a vision of reshaping the entire industry that was typically hostile to the average person. We can argue chinese cost advantages/vertical integration all we want but the reality is in the consumer space prior to BambuLab there were only a few established players mainly rehashing the same tired design over and over again ... the Ender 3 and the Prusa MK series. And none of them were really user friendly.

Bambu wanted to turn printers into a household appliance, and one can argue they've mostly succeeded at that.

I agree with both Bryan and Andy.

I'm just waiting for Lightmake to open their Kickstarter, which I believe Bryan is as well.

Would I have preffered that Bambu offered a printer with the Lightmake 4 features? Yep.

That said, Bambu has done a fantastic job of anticipating where the market i going, and getting there first.

Yeah the Lightmake is exciting, but I've put down a $5 deposit for the Infimech MX Pro. 8 tool INDX clone, heated chamber, 300x300x300 for $499? Yes please!

I saw that kickstarter but it raised red flags to me. Too much too cheap. Those are the ones that fail.

I backed sovel, picked the more expensive option with enclosure and heating unit. Most expensive kickstarter I have ever backed.

I am also going to back the lightmake as I believe it will fill a different niche. And I like the new technology.

I WISH I could do the Lightmake. Heck - to be able to print 4 objects at the same time - would be Awesome - for those wanting to get into limited production runs!!!

I get that but Infimech have several other printers out there already for similar low pricing. The deal is that unlike the Sovol or the U1, assembly is usually required. The TX, which is similar to the Bambu P1S is $199 but requires assembly.

It’ll be my tinkering with printer since neither of my Bambus need tinkering, and my V400 hasn’t required any either. I kinda miss tinkering.

Yeah - Bryan - to Each Their Own!!!

I used to joke - I NEVER Tweaked or Tinkered with my MakerBot CupCake - it was Simply NOT my thing - the most I did was Lube the Rods - since, if you know that Style of printer - that the one thing one should do occasionally.

Hell - I kinda Hate even Building the CupCake. Heck - even the Ender 3 was a little bit of a PITA when it came to Assembly. The U1 - DID require SOME assembly - but, it was SUPER Clean and Easy compare to the Ender - much less the MBI unit. 

Yes, if it's not already obvious - for me - it's about Producing 3D Prints - and maybe even MORE SO - about doing 3D Design work! So - yeah - Mucking with Mechanical assemblies (and even some electronics) - it's just not quite my thing!

Will also add - since Andy did mention this - the WHOLE World of Desktop 3DP world - it's WAY Moving away from those that want to tinker with the units - everyone wants a Toaster! Heck - ME Too!

Even the Essentium printers - I kinda had to Tinker at times. But, I do NOT Mind Tinkering when it comes to Cool Slicing - Pushing machines to run FAST - pushing Sequential printing to solve problems - even Tweaking software or building software as part of the Tinkering - now THAT IS My thing...

I wish my super racers were as tinker free as your 400. The hot ends have been a pain for me.

I hope these kickstarter printers are tinker free, fingers crossed. 

I was looking into the dowell 1m x3  printers for $2500. But reviews are not good and some definate problems to run at home, including needing a 2nd power hookup. The massive bed is powered by single heater.

So kind of looking at the elegoo orange storm. Almost as big 800x800x1000. With 4 separate heat zones. Can put up to 4 extruders on it.

Major recommended improvements are single plate bed  ( eliminates seams and better leveling), and a better z probe.

Wife definitely not thrilled with the idea, but could come around...

This baby just screams pellet extruder and a bigger nozzel...

My former co-worker from Essentium - who is a HARD-CORE 3DP Dude - has one of them!!!

I would LOVE to have a HUGE Printer - that I could then print Exotic Furniture of my own Design - or, even - a Huge Tree Lamp!

Keep us posted on that FOR SURE!!!
