Weird slicer action or me?

Because pp warps so bad at the base, I created a platform larger than the part .6 high. I moved the model stl into the platform at .4 high.  This should give .2 interference.  The stls are separate but save and load as one. Any slicer I put this into, ( cura, prusa, and egeloo ) when it slices puts an empty layer between .6 and 1.0 ( .7 to .8 ). And it tells me I need support. Anybody else else ever try this? Darn stls are such a pain to try and work with.
I really hoped it would slice with 1st layer of model embedded into platform, instead I got a sloppy raft. Funny thing is, it made a big improvement over part run without it.

Have you tried selecting both models and merging (right-click / Merge) them?  The resulting slice should all be one continuous model if that is what you are looking for.

Sounds like what you're trying is what old-school slicer's called a Raft. Most still support doing so. In orca slicer it's under the supports menu. It lets you print a certain # of layers then set a z contact offset.( Gap between the raft and model.

Can you make a raft a solid surface? I have used a raft a long time ago and they leave a terrible surface finish. That's why I wanted a solid surface to print on.  
Ideally the 1st layer would be embedded into the last layer of the raft/platform for maximum strength.

I truly do NOT Understand what it is you truly seek!?!?!? You really Want a Raft? And - you DO - or you DO NOT want to Separate the Part from the "Raft"???

If you want to Separate them - I might reveal a trick I was working on at Essentium - which an older colleague of mine came up with - and I was at one point working on a Python Program code to make it actually work - as in - it would be like a Post-Processing Script!

Heck - using AI - I could probably make it work!

I want a solid raft. Even better would be to embed the first layering the solid raft. I am willing to machine off the raft to separate it. The flatness of the part is very important as it mates to other parts. I am trying to print plane/drone parts.

OK David - I'm assuming you have only a Single Head printer - and thus you can NOT do the famous Full Contact Support via 2 print heads or an AMS. Am I right???

During my time at Essentium - we were working on something called an Easy-Rip-Raft. My coworker, a REALLY Smart dude - he was working on a Technique - where essentially the Top of the Raft - and the Bottom of the Model - were VERY Different Temps. I suspect it was the Top of the Raft is printed at the LOWEST temp you can print the material - without a Filament Jam in the Nozzle. Then - the Bottom of the Model - which touches the Raft - it would be Hot - and thus the Normal print Temp - maybe Bottom of model is printed Hotter than you would normally print - and the rest of the layers going upwards printed at the Normal temp. Since - tests proved that the Temp Differential allowed the Raft to Easily remove from the Model! 

So - there you have it - in a Nutshell...

And - as I was JUST Thinking about this - might be Interesting to experiment with this concept for a Full Contact Support - but, Support & Model of Same material. OBVIOUSLY - this would ONLY be Viable for a Fully Horizontal top support layer - NOT viable for Angles or Curves - so VERY Limited Usage case!
