Hi Everyone,

I am in the process, but nearly finished building a 350 mm^3 Voron 2.4 (pushed plastic and calibrated the extruder today, but still need to put the panels on).  I was wondering which slicer you all would recommend?  I do own a license for S3D, but they don't have a built in profile for the Voron, plus I've been reading some of the other posts that there might be better (free) slicers available these days.

From the Voron documentation, it sounds like both Cura and SuperSlicer come with built in support for the Voron.  I've also been reading the other post here (S3D vs PrusaSlicer 2.4 Bake off) that seems to point to PrusaSlicer being a good option too.

So.,., thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

P.S. I absolutely hate the format of the Voron discord and find it impossible to search through the past posts to find any useful information.

+1 on Discord.

Its not hard at all to make your own profile in any slicer including S3D. Most of the time I make my own even if there are already profiles made.
There's a lot of negativity about S3D but S3D still does things none of the others do... just as the others do things S3D doesn't do.
Assuming one is starting from scratch though, I like PrusaSlicer a lot.

V2.2024

I have been using Cura 4.1x on my Voron and it works very well. The built in profile is very simple as most of the work on start and end printing is actually handled by Klipper. Recommended.

Prusa has committed to having Voron profiles on Prusa Slicer.

Perhaps some Voron users will find this helpful.

Voron zero user,

I've found the included profiles in super slicer (conveniently my slicer of choice anyway) to give very good performance right from the start.

As already mentioned quite a lot of the start and end gcode is handled within klipper anyway so if you already have a preferred slicer it's probably not too hard to browse the profiles for cura or superslicer and recreate the important bits anyway!

Thanks for the tips everyone.  Since Super Slicer is apparently a fork off of Prusa Slicer, and it has a built in profile for the Voron, I went ahead and started there.  Hopefully the developers will continue to merge updates from Prusa Slicer as they come out.  I might eventually create a profile in S3D though too, mainly since it is a more familiar interface to me, but Super Slicer is getting the printer going for now, printing my first test cube!

Hi,

yes they are commited to doing that. I believe there has been a big prusa slicer update recently with new support generating methods etc. And superslicer developers have said they will merge it into their version for the next official release.

So you will always be a bit behind the official prusa slicer releases but you get all the super slicer new developments first so swings and roundabouts hah!
