Dear all,

Only a few seats are remaining for the upcoming Physalia online course: Comparative Genomics.

Dates:  (online) 7-11 April
Course website: https://www.physalia-courses.org/courses-workshops/course34/

This five-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to comparative genomics, with a focus on structural variation. Participants will explore a range of tools and workflows, covering:

  • Genome assembly and annotation for eukaryotic genomes
  • Identification of single nucleotide variants (SNVs) and structural variants (SVs)
  • Functional analysis of genomic variations in an evolutionary context

The course combines lectures with hands-on practical exercises, ensuring participants develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills.

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Identify SNPs and SVs using de novo assembly and read mapping approaches
  • Evaluate sequencing technologies (Illumina, PacBio, Oxford Nanopore) for variant detection
  • Compare multiple genomes and analyze structural variations
  • Annotate variations and interpret their functional impacts

Best regards,

Carlo
