Hello All,

The TDS of water supplied in LB is ~1700.
For drinking purpose, we can have RO installed but this high TDS causes problem in other daily routine activities.

On contacting the 3C helpdesk, they mentioned that water softener plants are operational for the  existing towers. Then they mentioned that these softeners don't lower TDS but are supposed to "do some other activity" (that even they are not clear about).

Do we have other alternatives rather than asking 3C to find a solution for the same?

Thanks
Payal

Payal,

Hardness of Water is due to the presence of Ions of heavy metals like Magnesium and Calcium.

SOFTNERS (water softener plant) help to remove these Metal Ions and makes it Soft water.

This Soft water is good for washing, bathing, as it forms good lather with soap, unlike hard waters.

TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) can be brought down to permissible limits by RO for drinking applications.

But u shall be observing that a very fine layer starts depositing on the water taps, handles etc once water falls on them from showers or by spillage.

I am trying to find out solution for this, as in one of my friends home at Chandigarh, an instrument was installed to overcome this issue.

Believe me, water was tastier, enjoyable while bathing, and suppose to be excellent in washing and also in maintaining the Glow of our costly Bathwares.

Shall update u guys soon.

Hello Anil,

Since 3C claims that water softener plant has been installed & is operational, then why do we have hard water being supplied?
This should be discussed with 3C management.

Payal,

Probably there is a meeting scheduled for Sat/Sun, this weekend.

One can raise this issue too.

By the way are u registered in LB_Res...@GoogleGroups.com  .

If NO, then be a part of it and get updated on the day-today activities, issues etc of actual residents.

3C confirmed that they will supply potable water. If TDS is 1700 mg/l, this is not acceptable as potable water. Even not good for home appliances and fittings.

If supplied water has TDS 500 or below, that is fine for most of the purpose except drinking.

R'ds,
Amit

Gaurav,

This is good but how is it practical in Households for two reasons in
Delhi usage for Ac is for 4 to 5 Months only and that too during
evenings and night only how about the balance period.
In office its ok as you have big Ac Plant operational for atleast 10
hours but that not the scenario in the homes.
Have you implemented the system in your house?
Kindly elaborate the feasibility of the idea.

humid season 5 to 6 hours it fills the 20 ltr bisleri jar.

My maid at house and attendent in office transfers that to Pureit. The further purified water is filled in bottled and put in fridge.

We get clean drinking water.wihout depending on DJB.

Its just 1 1.5 tonne AC generating so much water. 1 AC at home, 1 AC at office.

Pure , distilled natural rain water.

We implemented in on world Environment day. HAs been in use since then. No problems faced.

Gaurav,

This is an excellent idea.

Seema,
this is surely a practical solution. We collect the water discharged by our AC for mopping floors etc. But i never thought it can be used for drinking as well. One Ac running overnight or for 4-5 hours discharges approx, 10 ltrs of water.  So if each house collects 15- 20 lts with 2 Ac running, that pretty mch takes care of daily requirement of drinking water.

Need to dig much deeper before this water can be deemed fit for drinking purpose.
This water however would be ideal for toilet-flushing.

Perfect natural water. full of natural minerals available in air. Condensed and collected. Passes through copper, not boiled, hence no nutrient destroyed.

The idea is workable. It just requires will to get together and implement it. Thanks Gaurav for sharing.
