Hello Everyone-

Its been a long silence from me, and I’ve been putting off sending this email.

I want to talk with you all about the future of the Three Rivers Glass Beadmakers.  I think it may be time, which comes to most organizations, to officially close down the 3RGB.  Many of us are not as interested in glass beadmaking as we once were.  We (I) have been unable to get it together to call meetings, and when we have organized something (eg last spring’s Open Torch at the Glass center) few to none have been willing/interested/able to participate.  Other priorities and interests have taken over for many of us.   We did a wonderful job on the ‘Embodiment’ show, everyone came together for that so beautifully, but I really can’t see us doing one of those again.

Cathy has been serving faithfully as treasurer and would like to stop.   We have a good amount of money in our account that we can donate to some worthy group, maybe even send it to the ISGB.  Marianne has suggested that we donate a case to the Glass Center filled with our own bead collections.  I know I have a few I’d like to donate!   I don’t know if they would be interested, how much it would cost, if we could find a suitable wall case or have one custom built… and who would do this.  Not, I think, me.

I still value you as friends and people who share/have shared an interest in glass flameworking.  I propose a last meeting (or maybe a transition meeting to other leadership if someone is interested) in early March sometime.  Any day that first week would suit me.

Please email me back with your reactions to this.

I hope to hear from all of you

Leslie

Hi Leslie,
I fully understand your reasoning. I too have gone off on other tangents and glass has not been a focus for a long time but I really enjoyed the friendships that have evolved also. The time dealing with the Treasurer position is minimal but the account has been dormant since the Embodiment Exhibition except for service charges. If the decision is to make a donation or create a 3RBG display I think either would be fine. Not to volunteer Mike but I know he has someone that has done woodworking for his displays.

As to a meeting, I'm available the first  two weeks/ weekends  of March except for the mornings of the 2nd and 3rd.
Thanks for your time,
Cathy

Hello,

Of course, I was very sentimental last night reading this email. I think we got started around year 2000, so we did experience a generation.

I do hope we get together in March. I am good for Saturday , or Sunday in March.

I was going to mention that we, as a group, visit the Frick for the next exhibit: jewelry design , including Tiffany glass, and Lalique. The show celebrates  the impact from Women in innovation and imagination. Then perhaps afterward, we can go to lunch or something of  the sort.

Hello everyone. Yes, sadly, I agree the time has come to close down 3RGB. I am so thankful to have been able to be a part of this amazing group over the years and I certainly value the friendships we have made, hopefully to continue for many years to come.

I think it would be a nice gesture to donate the money from our organization in some lasting way to the Glass center. Let's brainstorm some ideas and discuss at the last get together. I love the idea of going to the Frick for the Jewelry show, and a potluck on Lang ave. would be great.
I have a pretty open schedule in March.

Until then, best wishes in all your creative endeavors at the torch and beyond.

Leslie and group,

I was thinking of something of the sort, but I didn’t want to impose! The past few shows at the Frick have been incredible.

Show first and potluck afterward? Or visa verse?
March 7th?

I’m sure we’ll all be running into one another at the Glass Center, Craftsman Guild, Touchstone and ISGB events.

Hi all. I would love to be included if it fits in my schedule. Depends on the day. March 7 is open so far. The last 2 weekends I have shows. March 14 is good too. The sooner we can get a  date the better. Thank you.

Many of us have life changes and there is a season for everything. Many of my other friends have recently left glass as well. They are grand parenting, taking care of family members and parent and wanting less drama in their lives or should I say maybe not the same energy and passion as before or have moved onto other art forms. I know I haven’t been involved since we were caring for Bob’s mom and now his aunt that never had any children. So my life is still spinning…

But I do think we should get together to talk about the future with 3 RGB and decide what we should do with the $ if we disband. Hope I can make it.

I am thankful for the great times and friendships I have with you all.

Like Diana and others, I’m feeling sentimental but agree we should make future plans.

Sounds like we’re circling around a Saturday in early March.  I’m clear on March 7.  I’m not sure but might not be available on March 14.  I like the Frick/potluck at Leslie’s idea.  Like Karen, it would be helpful if we could nail down this date in the next few days.

Best of friends, best memories.  You’re all in there for me.

Thanks

Hello 3RGB

It looks like March 7th is the best date for most of us.  Sorry Mike, I hope you have a great show in Kansas!!

Let’s meet at my house at 11am.  We can walk over to the Frick and see the Maker and Muse show, and then come back here for lunch (potluck).   Bring something to share!

I will supply drinks and some kind of main dish.  Do we have vegetarians in this group, or any other kind of dietary considerations?

See you on March 7 at 11am!

Hi, everyone. Sorry I won't be able to join you, sounds fun. Even though we all seem to be in agreement to formally end 3RGB, it's been a pleasure to meet and share with all of you over the years. Hope we can continue to enjoy getting together occasionally. I am in Florida, more and more each year, loving spending time with my grandchildren and not missing the PA winter's. But I still make beads and have also been learning glass fusing. Best to you all!
