Racial Prejudice: A Moral Shame

Collection of Poems of Witness

The topic of this collection (as its subtitle reveals) concerns a theme of absolute importance, 'Racial Prejudice, A Moral Shame' [Racism, Bigotry, Discrimination], and the aim is to get a collection of 'Poetry of Witness'. For such a reason this theme must be clearly expressed in the poems.
In some circumstances, we may accept a poem in which the "beauty of diversity" is symbolized through an allegorical message, but --although Allegory is a well-known poetic technique-- for the reason described above, the Author's moral/ethical imperative must be clearly expressed (the message can be made even more explicit through a footnote, if needed).

SUBMISSION:

each poet can submit up to 3 (three) poems *

no longer than 40 lines, with no more than 70 characters per line (spaces included) --read at the bottom--

You must state that the poems are unpublished when you submit

*Please, note* :

'The Beauty of Diversity' will be the title of the book, thus it can't be used as a title for a poem to be submitted.

If the poet/writer is a minor, to be accepted for publication parent's consent has to be expressed.

ALL THE UNFIT POEMS WILL BE DISCARDED AFTER DEADLINE, without further notice.

— The new entries have to add a short BIOGRAPHY no longer than 200 words, written in 1st person, stating clearly:

1. First name

2. Family name

3. Nationality

4. Country + Year of birth

5. City/Country where currently living

Note: for publishing and copyright issues, we need to know the real name of the poets. You can of course add your 'nom de plume' - pen name. If you prefer, you can request that only your pen name be used in the book.
— For those younger than the "legal age", parent's consent has to be expressed (by email), before publication.
— Young children should not use their own email account to submit to the group (the email can be seen by everybody, even by people not in our group who can open the group web-page). Perhaps it would be better for them to use their parents' email.

— The copyright of the poems will remain in the hands of their Authors, but all Participants will accept to make us free to publish the book at no cost and without any other obligation on our part than to publish the poems selected (the acceptance of this point will be attested, by each Participant, by simply sending their poems). To make it clear: by submitting their poems the Authors agree to grant non-exclusive world rights to Fabrizio Frosini and 'Poets Unite Worldwide' for publishing the submitted poems in books, without fee, so long as the Authors are credited —this does not prevent the Authors from publishing their poems anytime, anywhere, by themselves, or from granting others the right to do so.

— All participants will receive a free copy of the ebook as a file PDF or EPUB.

— NO FEES are requested.

— A Judging Committee will decide if the poems are worthy to be accepted for publication.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR PRINTED EDITIONS:

Too long lines in poems may not be a problem for EBOOKS (*), but when the text is printed [PAPERBACK editions], those lines will appear "truncated", with the final part printed in the line below.
To avoid getting that, better if lines are not longer than 70 characters (spaces included)

(*) when the EBOOK (file MOBI/EPUB) is open through an e-reader, the font size/ width of the line (in the reading device) can vary, as it is based on the preferences of the reader. But then, the text can't be changed for its PAPERBACK edition.
