This is a DETAILED look at fitting a mixer tap into a standard size hard worktop. The project is a luxury kitchen at the top end of the market that requires the installation of a HJUVIK single lever mixer into zodiaq top with a Blanco sink. We believe by showing you this specification of installation you will be confident in our products plus your own ability to tackle projects. Remember although the appliace specifications were high they only require standard size fittings. The complete guide uses over 80 photographs to explain how to use our diamond drills to achieve a perfect finish easily. Also worth a mention is that when cutting into material worth thousands of pounds it is worth taking extra time and trouble to prepare. In our step by step guide you will see the extra attention to detail. |

The project...
All components are unpacked and carefully laid out including the 365 diamond drilling kit. This kit is a yellow plate and two 35mm drills. All components checked to see that they are on the list. |

The area for installation is checked and cleaned |

This is the view underneath the counter top. There are two possible locations for the tap to fit. The first (A) is between the copper pipe (top of photo) and the grey wood. The second (B) is between the white overflow pipe (bottom of photo) and the piece of grey wood. It is decided to go with the second choice (B). |

A piece of gaffer tape is stuck to the worktop dead center to the sink. |

Measurements are taken for the overflow pipe location and the grey wood below. It will make the job easier if we can avoid drilling into these items. |

Their location is drawn onto the gaffer tape. |

The tap is placed dead center between the two lines to check for a fit. The hole location and measurement is taken. |

The final hole location is drawn around the thread at the base of the tap. |

The 365drill plate is located over the intended hole location. |

As an extra precaution some more gaffer tape is used to secure the 365 drill plate to the counter top. This is not necessary but a useful second precaution. It allows some additional level of free hands but at the point of drilling you should always press down on the plate to ensure a firm grip to the surface. |

The 35mm drill is selected. 35mm is the standard size for most mixer taps. But always be certain before drilling holes as sometimes the specs change, especially in some minimalist fittings. |

Our drill bit slots straight into the chuck of a standard domestic drill. Its very easy. |

As a final check the drill is offered up to the base of the tap to check for a snug fit. It may seem like there are a lot of extra checks and precautions but remember if you are drilling into thousands of pounds worth of material then there is no second chance. One mistake and there is no recovery. For the sake of a few extra checks it is worth a little prep time. |

Drilling the hole..... The drill bit is offered into the seat of the correct sized drill plate which is supplied by us. Press onto the drill plate (Hands have been removed here for photographic purposes). Continue to press down on the plate and slowly start to drill. Do not apply speed or pressure. |

After ten seconds the following should occur. The diamond drills will disintegrate the material into dust. |
