Hi.

Can I ask why these 2 panoramas were not selected?

https://www.360cities.net/image/tower-gardens-war-memorial-kings-lynn
Is the problem with the shadow of my tripod leg?

https://www.360cities.net/image/greyfriars-tower-kings-lynn
Is the problem the shadow of my camera?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am not the one making the decision but minor stitching and equipment artifacts are usually not a problem. However both your panoramas are not level, which is a typical reason for rejection:

Here, bottom line of the white windows are surely level in real life:

In the other pano this tower surely is vertical in real life:

These errors are collectively referred to as "wavy horizon"   should be corrected. I do not know what software you use to stitch but in all tools these are easily fixable. Try to Google it.

Regards,
Doma

Hi everyone.

I'm using Autopano Giga.
I tried it's auto horizon button on my 'war memorial' pano, it did nothing...

So I instead created a number of vertical lines and re-rendered, it looks much better:
https://www.360cities.net/image/tower-gardens-war-memorial-kings-lynn
(I still have that 'sky artifact' though it's better now than before)

I've also re-rendered the 'leaning tower' pano, it too looks much better:
https://www.360cities.net/image/greyfriars-tower-kings-lynn
(Again I still have that 'sky artifact' though it's better now than before)
FYI "King’s Lynn has a famous leaning tower. And it’s quite safe. The twenty-eight metre tower of the Franciscan (Greyfriars) Friary leans just over one degree to the northwest."
(Quoted from: https://circato.co.uk/the-leaning-tower-of-lynn)

Do I need to do anything to have both of these panos reconsidered for selection?

Lastly can I ask why my drone pano was not selected?
https://www.360cities.net/image/over-winfarthing-playing-field-england
Taken using my DJI MIni 4k, uploaded just to see if it was selected but it wasn't.
Is the hole in the sky the problem?

Thanks.

Martin.

To address the problem with your zenith, you can try pitching the entire assembled pano 90 degrees so that the zenith now lies on the equator of the equirectangular image, then stitching/blending it. This should result in a more seamless blend where the shots all meet at the (original) zenith. You can then pitch the stitched pano back up, perhaps blend just the zenith region into the original stitched pano to patch the problematic area.

The huge hole at the zenith  in your drone pano would be my guess as to why it was not selected.

Thanks Daniel!

Martin, please check out our requirements https://www.360cities.net/help/uploaded-panorama-requirements, specifically this point from public promotion requirements: "No holes or black areas in the sky or distorted or badly retouched sky (zenith)" as that is the main issue on all three panos, even the two you re-rendered.

Bruce

Thanks for the info Bruce.

The sky problem turned out to be some poorly exposed images in the source images of those 2 panos.
I've fixed those problems and re-rendered both panos, they're now awaiting review.

As for the drone pano, it was taken with a DJI Mini 4K which doesn't include the zenith in the panos that it shoots.
Does that mean that no pano taken with that drone would ever be selected?
Or could I clone some sky into the zenith and that would be acceptable?

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Panoramas should be accepted for our public content layer if they meet our requirements.

Bruce
