I'm forwarding the message below from our colleagues at 350 Bay Area. Many of the recipients of this email are traveling on the 350 Silicon Valley/Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter bus leaving from San Jose Diridon Station, and picking up additional riders at the Palo Alto downtown Caltrain Station. Some recipients of this email will be arriving at the March via BART or via carpools.
Whatever your method to get to the March, we are excited to have you join us in this history making event!
We would like to encourage ALL Silicon Valley attendees to join with the 350 Bay Area contingent that will be Marching as a Group. Please look for "
350" spelled out in
Balloons, and positioned at Frank Ogawa Plaza approximately where the "Red X" is shown in the photo in the email message shown way below. Members of
350.org Local Groups will be arriving from all over California, and our hope is to march as a group through Oakland on our way to the Rally site at Lake Merritt Amphitheater.
Here too is a map of where the march will travel:
The march route will snake 1.8 miles through downtown Oakland, including passing where Governor Brown formerly lived, and along Lake Merritt – an example of environmental protection (as the designated FIRST Wildlife Refuge in the country), and a beautiful testament to the importance of water. (More info about the Lake at: http://blog.nwf.org/2011/10/north-americas-1st-wildlife-refuge-lake-merritt-oakland-ca/)
The front of the March will be led by Frontline community members and youth – including indigenous leaders, farmers, and ranchers from Kern County and the Central Valley. Throughout the march there will be music (Maracatú Pacífico – Brazilian music & dance) to bicyclists, and much more. Bring your creative energy!

HELLO FELLOW 350 ACTIVISTS - see this note below. Travel safely! | Hello fellow 350 activists around California --
Thanks for participating for the March for Real Climate Leadership! We look forward to seeing many of you in Oakland this weekend and would like to invite you to walk in the March with our CALIF 350 contingent, hosted by 350 Bay Area. I've already talked to a few of you, and we hope you will consider joining us so more of us working in 350 groups can meet one another. But we also understand you might want to stay with your groups from your local area. Either way we hope to meet many of you over the weekend.
Below is the schedule for the day’s events and a view of Frank Ogawa / Oscar Grant Plaza. The red X marks the spot where the 350 groups are invited to gather to march together. When you arrive, look for 350 spelled out in blue balloons rising above the crowd to find us. We recommend water and sunblock. We’ll be at the Plaza early,so if your bus, carpool or train gets in early join us! And stay late at the after-party and dance to live reggae!
