Please join us on Wednesday, July 22nd from Noon - 4:15 pm, for a live facilitated training: Extreme Heat & Health: Strategies for Prevention and Action Training with Dan Olson, Executive Director of the VT Public Health Association, and Christine Vatovec, Planetary Health Lead at UVM's Osher Center for Integrative Health. The training was developed by the American Public Health Association and Climate for Health and we are one of only five sites selected from around the country to pilot the live training.
This training is helping us build a regional partnership between VtPHA, Maine Public Health Association, and New Hampshire Public Health Association in support of climate-health - so please share with your friends and colleagues across Northern New England.
What: FREE Extreme Heat & Health: Strategies for Prevention and Action Training
We’ll watch a series of short videos, engage in small-group discussions, and do hands-on activities to help us:
Understand key climate change basics and how it connects to extreme heat.
Recognize risk factors, symptoms, and treatment for heat-related illnesses.
Explore real, practical solutions at clinical and public health levels.
Build confidence in extreme heat communication and advocacy.
Craft your own message for action.
This is a space to learn, share, and connect — whether you’re new to advocacy or already engaged.
After the training, you’ll be invited to join a national network of nearly 5,000 Climate Ambassadors with access to advocacy tools, events, and ongoing support.
