Hello Penguins!
Happy holidays! As we enter the last quarter of the term, it is time for Division and District Contests! These contests are designed to recognize Key Clubbers for their hard work and dedication throughout the year, and I highly encourage all of you to apply!
This email will be a bit long, but please stick with me through it! The following topics will be discussed:
What Are Contests?
What Are the Requirements for Contests?
How Do I Apply?
When Is the Deadline?
What Is the Division Judging Committee?
What Are Contests?
Contests are a part of Member Recognition within Key Club, and they are designed to recognize YOU for all your hard work! Division Contests are reviewed by me (your Lieutenant Governor) and the Division Judging Committee. Contests include Advisor of the Year, Club Attire, Most-Improved Club, and Member of the Year. District Contests are reviewed by the CNH Membership Recognition Committee and the District Judging Committee. There are many more contests, including officer-specific contests, member contests, and a variety of club contests.
To read more about the specific contests, visit the CNH Website and go to the Contests Section under the Recognition Tab.
What Are the Requirements for Contests?
The requirements vary depending on the contest, but generally, in order to apply you must be dues-paid. For officer contests, a nomination and letter(s) of recommendation are also part of the submission form. For other contests, like Club Newsletter or Club Website, only the specific item (e.g. newsletter, website) needs to be submitted.
All contests have templates for submission portfolios, which I recommend that you use. Again, all of this information is available on the CNH Website.
How Do I Apply?
To apply, first visit the CNH Website’s Contests Section to learn about the requirements and judging rubrics. Once you have completed the submission portfolio, the next step is to submit!
For Division Contests, please submit by emailing your portfolio to LTG Carolyn Kao at d34s...@cnhkeyclub.org. Please also specify the contest that you are applying for.
For District Contests, in order to submit, you need to first join the CNH Contests Google Classroom. Once you have access, you can submit your portfolio through the Google Classroom.
When Is the Deadline?
The deadline for Division Contests is January 27th, at 11:59 PM. However, we would appreciate early submissions if possible :)
The deadline for District Contests is February 17th, 2024 at 6:00 PM. Please make sure to double check the deadline of the specific contest you are applying to. No late submissions will be accepted.
What Is the Division Judging Committee?
The Division Judging Committee is a group of 6-12 dues-paid officers and members that judge Division Contests. Members are appointed after applying through the 2024 Division Judging Form. Anyone can apply regardless of experience, as long as they are dues-paid, so we highly encourage everyone to apply!
The deadline to apply is Friday, January 13th at 11:59 PM, and the form can be found HERE. This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience, become more involved in the division, and learn more about Key Club (especially if you’re thinking of running for an officer position later this year!)
