Dear all,

Collating the points of the last meeting for everyone's convenience. This is from the minutes noted by me and compiled by Maimoona. The reason for putting it here, as discussed in the meeting, is to ensure that the virtual communication regarding the logistics and planning continues in the group.
Also, it would help if in response to this the members give a feedback on more members who need to be included in the google group.

===========================
We met again on 15 Feb 2020.
1. Had an educative and informative talk by Smita Gupta on what ails the economy vis-a-vis women.
2. Did a recap of the decisions/ discussions in the last meeting.
3. Took stock of the prevailing "haalaat". And other developments.
4. Made some headway towards planning for IWD. More on it below.
5. Decided on the next meeting schedule - 25 Feb 2020, 2:30 pm, AIDWA, Delhi.
6. Participants were: (Rushda please send the list before I dispatch the minutes to all.)

#3 and #4. Planning for IWD.

  • Jan Sarokar - a platform of several organisations, networks and individuals has convened a Jan Sansad from 2-6 March 2020 at Jantar Mantar. Some of us are constituents of Jan Sarokar - NFIW, AIDWA, AIPWA... During these days discussions would take place on a number of issues such as agriculture, labour, violence, attack on the Constitution, hate politics, women, Dalits, and many more. On one of these days some of the issues women's organisations are focussing on would be taken up - probably on 4 or 5 March.

  • 9-10 March is Holi and 8 March 2020 is a Sunday. This would impact on our mobilisation.

  • An understanding was thus arrived at to ALSO observe IWD with this extended family IN JAN SAROKAR on 4/5 March.

  • Most of the participants thought and felt that THIS WOULD BE IN ADDITION TO OUR PLANS FOR 8 March..

  • At this point we were reminded of the discussion (or perhaps a decision taken) in THE PREVIOUS MEETINGS l - of going to Shaheen Bagh ON THE 8TH . Some of us were of the view that though Shaheen Bagh has become the epitome of CAA-NRC-NPR protests, we should not be seen to be not taking cognisance of the protests in MANY other parts of Delhi. Hence ...

  • As the final venue is being decided, the solidarity meetings at different venues will be co-ordinated. The solidarity meetings will be from 1-7 March. The culmination in Plan A is to be at Shaheen Bagh and organizations will try to get representatives from different sites for it.

  • If according to Plan B, we have the 8 March at India Gate, different groups will try and bring representatives from different sit-in sites  to participate.
  •  For sites: Kusum is to co-ordinate with representatives from Eidgah/Turkman Gate; Smita: Seelampur/Jaffrabad/Yamuna Vihar;
         MM: Chandbagh/Khajuri/Khureji/Mandavali/Hauz Rani/Shaheen Bagh

Rest will revert on the subject and co-ordinations over emails.

  • THOSE PRESENT TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONTACTING DIFFERENT PROTEST SITES FOR THEIR RESPONSE TO THIS SUGGESTION. A FINAL DECISION WILL BE MADE IN THE NEXT MEETING ONCE PEOPLE ON THIS GROUP AND THE PROTEST SITES GIVE A FEEDBACK.

  • Additionally, since Mahila Ekta Yatra - originally planned to coincide with IWD was advanced because of uncertainties, we could observe the first week of March as Women's week in the protest sites. If participant organisations agree to this, we could undertake to help plan it out.

PLEASE DO RESPOND WITH YOUR COMMENTS TO THESE SUGGESTIONS.
