Obadiah 1:15-21
Notes on 1:1-14
- Book of Obadiah deals with God’s judgment on the nation of Edom for being too prideful
- Edom is the nation that descended from Esau, the brother of Jacob
God gave me a powerful message on this cold rainy day. The shortest book in the Old Testament….and no beating around the bushes. Straight to the point! After meditating on today’s word……. I wondered what angers God the most. Without a doubt, it must be PRIDE. Pride is what constantly destroys my relationship with God; any relationship for that matter. God gave me a big smack on the head today. Wake up! Stop being so prideful! It is because of pride that I don’t pray as much, unthankful, easy to anger, impatient, HATE criticism, HATE HATE authority and carry out as if I know more than everyone………I can do this all day.
15 For
the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations.
As you have done, it shall be done to you;
your deeds shall return on your own head.
God reminds me yet again that I am nothing. He’s asking me to place my faith and trust in Christ and repent my sins brought by pride, no matter how small I think it is. That is the beginning of humility. God, help me hold onto you in every aspect of my life, let thankfulness radiate from my lips, bring a smile when I’m holding on to my last thread, let every word and action from me be motivating to others and most importantly, recognize you are the true and only authority in my life.
